Look what followed me home this afternoon
Took a TL moment this afternoon just after 3:00pm. There are some great country two-lane roads in my area which makes for very enjoyable and interesting road time and TL moments. This afternoon was no different... with one minor exception. This is what followed me for about six miles back into my little town and was sitting at a light next to me waiting to make a left turn at the end of our little ride.

BTW, it had a manual transmission and it was white.

Both links show the R8. It was the V10 version and sounded quite frankly, pretty bad. But then again, 10-cylinder engines almost never sound good because two cylinders fire simultaneously which makes the engine sound like a 5-cylinder engine. And even though I'm not a fan of this car, I have to admit it was really cool seeing one on the road.

What the Freak is the point of this utterly useless thread?
I saw a UFO land in my backyard. Then a little green man came out and flipped me the bird!

Screw you a--holes. Here I go and tell of something that you don't generally see everyday and what do I get but a bunch of shit.
Ok, maybe that was a little strong, but fuck this. I'll know never to do something like this again on this website.

Just laugh them off. Those of us that have been around know you didn't make it up. Thanks for posting, I've never seen one in the flesh. Write more, not less

As much as I would have preferred to have seen pics as well, in SB's defense I don't really think he's the type of guy that packs around a digital camera or even an elaborate cell phone.
But he's also probably chewed more rubber, visited more racetracks, and has been elbows deep in more engines over the course of forty years than a lot of people here.

SB I'm shocked at you. Those responses are from people that really haven't been around long. They are just treating you like they treat each other (pretty rude). You haven't posted nearly as mush as before you retired.

This thread took quite a turn.
I'm surprised the R8 would play around with such a car as the TL. Not that it's a bad car, but it's not exactly known for being nearly as much of a canyon-carver as the R8. It's always fun playing with another car on good roads, though.

SB rocks.
To the guy who pointed out what a useless thread this is, WHY DID YOU POST THEN? We expect a little more decorum than what you posted here. Next time, if you think a post is useless, the DON'T POST there. This is Car Talk, we talk about cars.

Too bad Elvis and the Martians didn't beam you up or turn your ass into a satellite receiver

I'm good. To anyone who thinks I'm the sensitive type... well, you don't know me. It's just a button that got pushed and I reacted.

He played very little as we were on a two-lane road (speed limit 55), coming out of the foothills of the mountains into a small town. And I wasn't holding him up, legally speed wise, so he was good to go. It's the first one I've seen on the road. While I am not a fan of these types of cars, I have to admit his looked pretty darned good.

There were a few times when we had to slow down for railroad tracks, other vehicles turning, etc. and he laid back a little. When accelerating back up to speed, I watched him a little in my mirror and saw him coming up kinda quickly but not to my bumper. That car in in the neighborhood of $150,000 so I'm pretty sure he is cautious with it.

This whole thread is ridiculous.
"Look what followed me home ..." and no pictures is ALWAYS going to get you a dozen "pics or banned" comments from the peanut gallery (me included).
Half the time we would have said he got followed home by a toothless cougar in a rusted Mercury Capri (the convertible not the rebadged Mustang).
The reaction of the "regulars" here strikes me as nothing more than a "he's with us" mentality.
If Moog or Yummy or Jesal had done that, they would have been ripped just like SB was. The only difference is that their reaction wouldn't have been flying off the handle.
I'm all for moderation but how about we have some perspective first.

I had the privilege of being behind a silver R8 a year or so ago. No six miles here; we were on the road together for only a few minutes. He was nice enough to lay into it when the light turned green, though (he was going straight, I was turning). Great sound.
