A little accident
A little accident
Guys, I need some help. my sister just bumped someone's car, and she said that she only dented the rear bumper around 2cm long. However, the guy wants the whole bumper replaced, and quoted her a 630$ for replacement. Im guessing that he is trying to mess with her by adding a whole lot of other stuff in it. Suggestions?

BTW, guess how much a TL bumper cover costs, with installation.

No, I don't think the guy is messing with your sister-- she dinged the guy's car, and the owner wants a new bumper cover rather than try to repair, fill and paint-match the existing bumper cover.

I'm guessing both of them are young and it would be stupid to file a deductible under his name. They will raise his/her insurance probably more than the cost to fix or replace the bumper + the deductible.
I dont think its fair to change the whole bumper just because of a little ding. Anyway, what is the procedure? Because the guy had his insurance fix his car already without the approval of my sister's insurance?
^life isnt fair to begin with.
the owner of the other car was driving normal and your sister bumped into him. he can claim to the max amount he want. he can even be scandalous and do a claim for injury.
originally saying his bumper was good your sister damaged his bumper thus causing a damage to the car that wasnt there. to fix this correctly and get the paint match correctly. paint shop useually paint the whole bumper. this is the correct way. and yes painting a bumper only is expensive. around 200 more or less. without the cost of the bumper. im pretty sure he is getting dealer rates.
if your sis doesnt want this to be on the record then she have to pay for the premium =[. sad but true. if she dont want to then its time for the insurance company to take care of it. a reason why we buy auto insurance!

Uh sorry didn't really read your post right OP. Thought she hit your car for a second? Guess I had a few drinks too much...
Anyways, yeah you have to go through insurance or just pay out of pocket. Either one, you're responsible, so be responsible.

sure it isn't fair
but she hit him, right? i hate when people try to wiggle out of "their fault" problems. if the bumper was damaged already to begin with, then i would understand; a brand spanking new car - can you imagine if you the one who got hit? you'd probably push for a new bumper too...!

sohow much would a tl replacement cost? Do u know around how much thr increased premium would be around? Shes 19 with a new accord and a full coverage on her policy. Ive never dealt with insurance before so i appreciate all the input.

Its what insurance is for though but if you guys dont want to use it then expect to pay a decent amount more than your deductible.

She dinged his, he gets to have it fixed to his staisfaction. You better be damn straight if you, your sister, or or anyone dings/dents/scratches my car they are going to have it fixed properly. And with bumpers because of the plastic/crumple one nature means replacing the whole piece.
There is a reason she has insurance. Accidents happens and I don't care what you think is fair or not. She messed up his car, she pays to get it fixed right.

They guy your sister hit wants his car fixed back to the condition it was before she hit him. He's entitled to that.
Why do you have a problem with that?
Take some responsibility. Use your insurance if you don't want to pay for it.

Like other have said, he's doing nothing wrong and the estimate sounds more than reasonable. When my G35c was rear ended, I had quotes for replacement, paint & install from $650-1200 depending on the shop. The bumper cover alone cost about $350, which I'm sure is very similar for the TL (I think you said he had a TL?) Anyway, sorry dude, she's either gotta go out of pocket (which is what happened in my case) or take the hit on insurance. Life's a bitch, so pay attention or you might get fucked.
Have him file a claim with her insurance company.
If he already went through his insurance like you said... then this should be standard proceedure.
His insurance company files a claim with hers, and they get reimbursed.
Plus, if his insurance company already paid to have it fixed... why should your sister pay him? He didn't pay anything (unless he has a deductible)... so she shouldn't pay him a dime.
Trust me... have insurance deal with it. She should forward her insurance info along and be done with it... otherwise she may be getting jerked around.

If insurance is already involved... I don't see why your sister has to give him any money.
As far as I know, for her car, she will pay her deductible and for his car, your sisters insurance should pay his deductible.
If he got his car fixed through his insurance and he paid the deductible, then his insurance will reimburse him.
