Killer deal on G37x

Helped my father haggle a lease on a G37x. Went from 602/mo to 495! 36 mo @ 10k mi/yr. down payment and taxes rolled in, baby. however, no options - the car was sitting on the lot.

Silver on black. cant wait to take it for a spin every now and then. this will be the quickest car within the family to date.

That's an OK deal.

Back in Feb of 08 I got quoted 450 tax included, 900 down on a white on black G37 with tech, premium, and sport packages.

G37 and G37X are two totally different cars. He was talking about a G37. OP sounds like a good deal. Have fun with the car, it's a beast.

IMO, it's really not a killer deal when the car don't have any options.

A "stripped" infiniti is still more equipped then most cars on the road. As a G37X, it has all of the Journey Package options, plus AWD and heated seats, far from crank window's, no air, etc...

Infiniti's interpretation of options is tech package, sports package, $5,000 stereo system, etc etc.... It's not like Toyota where you have to add floormats if you want, or a steering wheel with buttons as to one without any.

i am quite familar with leases. I, along with every other family member, ONLY lease.

walking away with a 2009 G37x w.o. opening your wallet, with <$500 a mo. payments, seems like a killer deal to me.

Heck, the 2001 TL wasnt that far off from this. And a G37x is leaps and bounds from a 01 TL.

Residual values are dropping for a lot of vehicles.....poor economy can do this....thus lease rates are going up.

understood. although some dealers in certain $$ metro areas could get away with higher prices. which is how i got the payment down almost 20% - out of area price matching...teased the rep with 5x visits over 2 months with the anticipation of the last visit to say, "meet X price, or im going elsewhere. this is my final consideration."

What was the selling price? This is how you would know if you got a good deal, not with the monthly payment.

I'm going to guess that Mermon is smart enough to realize that game.

regardless of selling price - we all know what the "price matching game" is when it comes to leasing. its no different than a game of poker. i know i got the lowest monthly payment available.

Exactly. A base model is one without any options, even if it's well equipped.

That may be but you're going to have to open your wallet and then some if you drive like me. 10k miles wouldn't last me 5 months....

The "base" model would be the G37. The G37x is far from "base".

It goes:

G37

G37 Journey (that's base PLUS Dual Zone AC and Auto Lights)

G37x (thats base PLUS Dual Zone AC, Auto Lights, AWD, Heated Seats and Heated Mirrors).

By you logic, since my '07 TL-S has no options, I guess it's a base model too?

wtf,

No, the point is that the G37X comes with the Journey package as standard, which make it the "base" model for that particular version of the G37. I mean, an option package can be added or delete fro the ordering sheet, but the G37X comes with the Journey option as standard, making it way more equipped than the regular RWD version.

No, it's a variant of the TL. If I remember right, the base TL had Navigation as an option. If the TL-S had CMBS package as an option, then yeah, it would be the base version of the TL-S variant. I mean, people say "I got this car with all the options" not "Oooh, my car has all the standard features compare to this other car, so I didn't want to get the other options that my car has to offer."

Can we get off of this and get on topic? The original point I was making is that Thermon's dad didn't get the car with all the options for a cheap monthly payment, but rather, he got an AWD car that has standard features, that comes only as option package on the regular RWD version.

I'm not familiar with leases but if i'm reading your post correctly, You got a G37x with no money down and taxes included with the monthly payments of 495 for 36 months? That comes out under 18k at the end of the lease, how much would it cost to buy it out?

That is a decent deal. I would have tried upping the mileage. I live about 8 miles away from where I work and I do not do much driving but I have averaged about 11.5K miles per year since I've had my car.

If his dad has more than one car, then 10k miles a year isn't a big deal.

If he drives too much, he can just take the wife's car for BS errands and save miles that way.

The argument that the G37x with no "options" is a base model is silly. Go look at a base G37 vs. the G37x and if the STANDARD features are identical then it's a base model car.

Since we've established that the G37x in fact is equipped like a Journey+ that should end this argument, no?

Yah that is "OK" deal

Mine was $495 with CA tax included 2 years lease with 15k miles /year

G37S 6mt with everything except for rear spoiler. MSRP $44k

$1000 drive off (1st month payment + license and all the BS fees)

Leasing does not work that way. Who is going to pay for your license and documentation fee? 1st month payment?

nope, 10k is common here...

most commuting is done via train to NYC. monthly parking in manhattan is comparable to the lease itself. so most opt for 10k.

nonessential driving of 10k mi. a mo. is hard to reach. another reason why leasing pricing is against you in this area - few buy, and decent lease $$ are hard to come by

Somehow I looked at the new G37x online last night & from what I see, the options do add up quickly compare to a comparable TL standard features .... but that lil coupe does look nice ... your money your call ...

the x includes premium and cold weather. many nice features. plus it says a lot if the standard equipment is comparable to that of the optionless king, Acura.

anyway, not a fan of the TL starship.
