Just saw a 2005 Mustang

Just saw one for the first time today. Doesn't look all that great. I think it looked better in pictures. What are your opinions on it?

My neighbor just picked up his Mustang GT a few weeks ago. He ordered it in May...it's a deep red with tan leather (I think). After he backs out of his driveway, he peels out.
I like it.

I saw a black one today. Needs some 19s or 20s and a nice drop, but good looking nonetheless.

i think they look sweet, they did a great job of improving the interior as well.

probably one of the few retro cars that actually will do good in sales without annoying people like the pt cruiser did. i know a lot of people that don't like the pt cruiser.

I haven't seen one on the road, but I pass Tasca Ford a couple times a day 'cause it's around the corner from work.

When I bought my CLS, I was thinking I might wait till the new Mustang came out, but my old 94 Tbird needed to be replaced ASAP (tranny dying).

The new Mustang is a great bang for the buck. The Cobra Mustang should be out in a couple of years when I'll probably be car shopping again, so it'll be on the top of my list (no coupe from Acura ??).

I had a hookup for buying old funeral home cars (pall bearer cars). I had a late 80's Hosemobile Delta 88 (gold) and a Buick Lesabre (black). Fully loaded, 350 V8's, really nice sedans (Land Yachts) for under $1000 a peice.... The 88 even had an 8-track player

They're all over south-eastern Michigan. I passed 3 on my way home Sunday night, and saw one pulled over on my way in to work today.

I like them a lot more than the previous generation.

Werd. The way Ford is doing things now, the 'stangs should only get better. Ford plans on releasing new 'stangs slowly over the course of the next couple of years (vert, cobra), and I'm sure they have some minor styling changes planned further down the line...

I like the spoiler delete option Ford is offering on the new Stang. I think it'll clean up the lines a bit on the rear end, and you can make the car look less like all the V6 powered 'stangs driven by fat secretaries that will be out there

Anyway... I saw this hot silver one the other day. I don't know if it was a special color, or just silver and the lighting outside made it look hot... but it was sweet looking.

Personally I like the new Mustangs a lot. Remind me of the GT500 style like the one from Gone in 60 Seconds. Pretty sweet.....

give it 3 months and you'll see them every where. The 2005 are too retro there is a fine line in being retro and just copying. it like they just copied the 60's and rounded some edges. Its so close to looking very cool. if they just put some more work in to it. in a couple of years when they do a redo it should look much better.

That should be a good race. An auto CLS w/ SC against a 300hp Mustang...

Seems like a drivers race... The RWD and MT on the 'stang might give it a slight advantage...

Manual tranny 05's have already dyno'd ~275rwhp, and its pretty rich.

And did you look at that thread Darrin? He pulled a 1.86 60' on that pass. I think 102mph is awesome for an automatic. If I could pull 102mph I would guarantee I would get somewhere close to a 13.2

Another 13.3 @103 mph stock auto

Red is 04 Mach 1 - 5 speed & stock
Blue is 05 GT - 5 speed manual & stock

You can see that this example is pretty rich, so sometuning should bring it close to 300rwhp.

I dont see why they cant run low 13's with a good 60'. The gearing is good, even for the automatic, and the 3 valve is definitely making more than 300hp.

I'm not so sure about that. I'll stick with the old "hp sells cars, torque wins races" saying...

MrSteve has his Sc'ed dyno posted that shows 239 ft-lbs @ 7K rpms... The stang makes 315 ft-lbs @ 4.5K rpms... I'll still say it's too close to call.

Motor Trend claimed a 13.6 with and auto tranny GT so a manual tranny will make it closer. Mrsteve has a best run of 13.44, so I think it'll be real close...

I just ordered a 2005 Black with Charcoal interior GT Premium. I ordered the 5 speed, so I am hoping for mid 13s stock.

i was behind one on the highway yesterday. We had traffc on the right of us and every time the left lane opened up he would gun it and i would be on his ass to the point where i had to let go of the gas to not hit him. Then when both lanes opened up we went at it. I had enough cars on him to see his headlights well behind me. I shut it down at about 120. He was cool about it, he pulled up next to me and gave me a thumbs up, then he fell behind me and when he exited, he gave me a quick hi beam.
