Just KILLED a 96 M3

On my way home from work tonight this Bimmer was weaving in and out of traffic. I kept ahead of him and he got on the fwy behind me. I got kept ahead of him and on the off ramp he blew by me (I like to have fun but I’m not stupid) so I let him go. He was going the same way I was so I quickly caught up to him and passed him, waited for him, punched it, waited, punched it so to make my intentions clear. We cruised through a couple of lights trying to catch one and we finally did. I told him to roll his window down and we exchanged model/yrs of our cars. I told him to dump his 2 friends but he laughed and declined although one of them was ready to get out right there. The light goes green and he gets a good launch but I rape him and by 75 he’s a good 3 or 4 cars back. We hit another light and I ask him if he wants to go again and he said, “sure.” We’re talking a bit and I’m not paying close attn to the light and it turns green and he jumps out to a ¾ car length lead. I catch and pass him in second and walk him pretty hard. We wave as he turns off and I thinking, “wish he would have dumped his friends.”

I tried to tell him! He was an average driver from what I can tell. He was still in high school too and driving an M3.

This is about the 10th "I raced an M3" story that I've read here. WTF? You guys are obsessed with the M3.

I'd love to see all these fuckin' morons driving the M3. If any of this shit is true, then there are a lot of shitty M3 drivers out there.

Hey Mike, what do you mean that you exchanged models/years with the other driver? You didn't know you were racing an M3 until he told you that his car was an M3? Weird......

It was 10:30 at night, the car was black and debadged...who knows...maybe it wasn't an M3. I would have told the same story if it was a mustang gt or a mercedes.
Do you know the #s for torque and hp for that year?

You're right, there have been other posts about races with the M3. We are certainly also obsessed with IS300s, Preludes, Mustangs, Civics, 330is, Maximas, S4s, GTPs, Firebirds, and anything else that more than one person has reported racing. Is it 10 race stories before it's official, or do we have to wait until someone accuses us of being obsessed?

Perhaps because it's a BMW and one of their fastest small cars. It's a competitor and beating one is neat because it's supposed to be so much faster.
And I'm pretty sure he knew what he was racing, but getting the year right is harder especially for someone who doesn't own one, wiseass.

You would'nt kill a 2001 M3.

I got to drive one today, and MAN OH MAN! This car just flat hauls ass! The ride is stiff and tight, but on the freeway it is so smooth. Worth every penny, if you can get over the fact that a BMW sounds like a viper, or vette.

Awesome, but at 900+ month for 3 year lease, its out of my price range.

I bet you're 100% correct. Not everyone who owns an M3 is automatically a great driver--my friend bought the M3 without even knowing that it was a true performance car--I think the fact that he bought the convertible pretty much sums it up. Why make a convertible M3--it seems like a major contradiciton to me.
