"The 2010 GTI is powered by a new motor known as EA888. This four-cylinder turbocharged engine makes 210-horsepower and 258lb-ft of torque. As with the mark V models, power is delivered to the front wheels via either a six-speed DSG transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox. Those opting for the DSG transmission will enjoy both a set of paddle shifters and the manual shift gate on the tiptronic gear shifter."
I quote this straight from the leftlanenews. I just thought MkVI is getting a new engine or something.

I did mod my TL.
Every year I did put some parts to make it fresh, at least to me. I even did my blacked out headlight by myself, it took me 12 hours as it was my first time working on my car in my life. I put so much time and effort on the TL. I just love it so much. But, I've had it for more than 4 years now and it's currently @ 90K miles. It just feels like it is really old once the car goes over 100K miles...
And the point is that I'm not trying to get a brand new beemer or Audi just because I'm finally making some good money after school. Just trying to get a car that better fits my current lifestyle. I really really really want to get a manual shifter, small, sporty, cheap to mod, and affordable car($23K-25K). I don't really need to haul people and craps around like I use to when I was in school.

Unless I'm missing something?
I think the new GTI is not using the current A4 engine, it is actually using the same engine as the previous GTI. Either that or it is using a detuned version of the A4 engine, as it has less torque than the A4.
The former engine was the FSI engine that was in the MkV from day one until mid 2008.....then all MkV's received the new TSI engine.

Wow.. my friend's dad is selling his 2007 335i Coupe @ 15K miles for $27K-28K.
It has black exterior and red interior... a manual transmission. My friend said it has sport pkg but don't know about other pkgs...
Isn't this a steal..? Any known problems with 07 335i Coupe?

I think you might kick yourself in the azz down the line when you're making a car payment rather than saving for a ring/house. You're in a great financial situation and seem very good with money...don't do like the rest of us to just to have something new/different.
That said, I still miss my rsx type s sometimes...but funny enough, when I had both (while trying to sell the RSX) I used to drive it and hate it want to be back in my smooth awesome TL. Funny how our brain works.

Jesal said it best. Aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty if it's possible for you to get one for peace of mind. And if you could get him down to 25.5-26k, it's certainly something you won't regret down the line.

Meanwhile, I try to deal with this 335i, let me ask you guys a question though.
My TL's going to hit 100K miles pretty soon. If I decide to keep it, don't I have to change some expensive parts?
My parents said they are willing to pay the monthly payment for me, if I get the monthly pay under $300......
What should I get...? haha
I don't know how to calculate the car payment accurately.. someone do it for me.
I think I can sell my TL for $13K and if I payoff it, I should have a little bit over $10K for a downpayment on a new car. Maybe I'll add in $2K on top of it just because..
335i seems very luxury for me right now.. and it's just totally opposite of what I was trying to get. I dunno..

And If I get to bring down the price of 335i to $26K. It's definitely doable with certain amount of downpayment.
I haven't decided anything yet though. I might just get a brand new MS3 or fully loaded Civic Si, or maybe I'll just wait for the new GTI which is a great afforable sporty hatch. Hell I might just keep my TL. Who knows.

If your goal is to build credit, take out a credit card with a $500 limit in your name that you use and pay regularly. Start paying some of your own bills - cellphone, for example, or take over the remaining payments on your TL.
You will not get an SI with Navi for 20k.. especially if you are talking about OTD prices.
i think u can get an SI without Navi for about 19k + tax and license. so $21xxx out the door.
Navi is additional $1500
dont worry about credit... having no credit is better than having bad credit. There are a lot of banks that have special programs for post grad college students with special interests rate. ie, scion, toyota financial, infiniti financial.. i am sure honda has some programs for it too.

Look, you schmuck, keep the damn TL, pay $1200 to get the timing belt and water pump changed at 105K or so and quit trying to dig yourself into debt!
Even better yet, send me $18,500, keep the TL and $1500 to get the 105K service done.

the only real option for Si is the Navi and OEM body kit.

Yes, sir. I'm really trying hard not to do it.
Replacing an older but fully functional car with another only makes sense to me (though I have problems following my own advice at times) when you're going to replace that car with another one you plan on keeping for a long time.
For example:
Guy gets married and after he and his wife start "trying to get pregnant" the dumbass trades in his perfectly fine Nissan Maxima for a 370Z because it's new and shiny. Wife owns an older Cavalier that's paid off.
Wife gets pregnant a month after he buys the Z.
Now he has to sell the Z and get a minivan or some shit because they can't do two car payments.
That is a scenario where trading in a perfectly good car because of upgraditis is a bad idea.
If you're not in that position, then getting the 335i isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Me and my brother survived riding in a Cavalier for 8 years
basic transportation FTW
OP: No matter what you get you'll miss some stuff from your TL, and you wont miss some stuff. It all depends on what your priorities are now, and what your priorities will be in the future. If you can get the 335i for under $26k I suggest you pull the trigger. But just because you have the cash now, doesn't mean you will have the cash say 3, 4, 5 years from now. Think about what your needs will be in the future.
If were in your position, I'd run that TL into the ground, then dig it back up and keep it running
in fact that's what I plan on doing with my car.
<---- Not that one.

Went to Honda dealership yesterday to test drive Si sedan. I loved it so much..
I sat down to run some numbers. 09 Si Sedan w/o Navi. 10K down with 299 @ 60 months. Is it a good deal? Just trying to get some idea...

Use the calculator i posted for you. Sounds like a terrible deal.
How much was the cars price and the interest rate they were quoting you? After 60 months you would have paid almost 28k for a Honda civic SI!

oops.
I don't know how much the cars price was, they were keep on giving me monthly payment numbers. They quoted me $460 @ 60 months for the first try. I was like okay, you can go f yourself. And he was like let me try again. We did that for like 30 minutes and by the time they reached 299, I just got out.
You know, if the car itself is priced at $20K, and if I put down 10K and finance it for 60 months, how much would be the approximate amount of total payoff. I just want to know this so I can have a good idea when I'm at the dealer.
According to the Jesal's calculate, it should be at $23858.2. Is this right?
By the way, the interest rate was 5.99%. My no-credit-whatsoever SSN was used only. They had this special program called Recent College Graduate program.

Cavaliers, Cobalts, Sunfires, or whatever other small car POS from 1983-2009 that they are selling are horrible.
I'd get a Mazda3 every time. At least Chevy finally put side airbags in the damn things (though I think they are just head-curtain and not curtain and side-impact).
