Actually one of the reasons i wanted leather now was because the wife has been complaining that the interior smells of our 08 with cloth. I figured she was just being a drama queen.
During the steering pump install, they had told me the air ducts for the AC/Heater unit were covered with leaves and that would cause mildew smell in the cabin.
Ha guess she was right after all. I still need to figure out how to change the cabin filter. They wanted freakin $145 to change it.

If it's the same for gen1, you have to take off the glove box and something else to get there. Wasn't hard at all.

Just did the tire rotation and found 4 huge nails on ONE tire! No wonder I was getting the tire pressure low every couple days for the past 2 weeks..

Just bought a can of Plasti-Dip to do my emblems.
And planning to black out (more like silver out) my headlights!
This is the look I'm going for!

I was going to black them out. And I've seen pictures of others who have done it on their black MS3, but it was just too much black.
In my opinion, this car right above looks sick minus the silly red emblems. The owner said he was experimenting something with it and it's already blacked out.

Looks good I'd be iffy about greying out the DRL and turn signal reflectors though.

^ Thanks! I'm so excited to do the headlights! On my last 3G TL, I was just soooo happy with the way the headlights came out.
Also, MS3s don't have DRL nor use signals much..

This guy left the highbeam part alone, and he used black paint.
Which one looks better? This one or the silver one above?

$18k isn't too bad. I looked at a 2009 w/30k miles on it and the guy was asking $20,500. The 2010 w/9k miles at the dealership was $22,000 and change.

It's reliable if you mod, tune, and drive properly.
Any turbocharged car can go BOOM if you don't drive it right.
Check if the car was modded before. And make sure it has the stock tune on the car. Test drive it and bring it down to $15k. Let me know if you have any questions on it.
I'm leaning towards that too. Black seems to be too "murdered out". And like jesal said, i like the contrast the highbeam part is giving out. I'm planning to do this next weekend, so I'll try to find pics of others who have done it and post here.
Don't know much about used GTIs.
Very nice!
Do the installation yourself! If I can do it, you can do it!

No.
Don't worry about it. You won't need it.

I think i'd leave the chrome on the high beam alone too, it looks nice. Try it out and if you dont like it then just black it out.
Dont do any tint on the headlights, I think thats so tacky haha, plus you need headlights to see at night!

Yeah, I'm planning to leave the highbeam alone. It looks nicer that way.
I would NEVER tint my headlights. It's for ricers.

Just did couple 3rd gear WOT runs to data log.
I'm into 2nd revision on my map and everything's working in the right direction.
I would love the attach the data logs here for you guys to take a look at it, but AZ doesn't have the option to put the attachments.
Anyways, on the first revision of OTS map, my boost was building a little too slowly. So, I made some adjustments on boost targets, AFR, and WGDC. According to the datalog that I just did, it seems like the adjustments are working! I'm hitting the targeted boost much easily and putting down the power about 1000rpm earlier than the first revision map. It's about 20-30 more horsepower from 4000rpm to 5500rpm just by tuning couple values!
Can't wait to get my hpfp internal and Denso plugs installed and run much aggressive map..... I'm still only targeting 15.5 max boost..... I'm gonna be able to target 18-19 boost without any problems!

You're mapping your car by yourself?? Thats cool! And scary haha. I wouldnt know what to do. I'd just get it from a good tuner. Dunno whats good for mazda but if things go right and I ever get a gti, i'm going to an apr shop and going stage 1 asap
First things first, getting a gti which probably wont happen for a couple years ahha

It is very addicting and scary at the same time.
But Cobb gives its buyers this helpfile thats like 100pages long explains every single details of AccessTuner software. everyone is require to read that thing at least three times before even touching the most simple tables. I probably spent almost a month studying the material. Its actually very fun to read,if u r into cars.
And theres a Tuning School threads over at mazdaspeedform and it literally has like 20 sticky threads regarding tuning our platform. Some of these has 7-8 years long worth of information.
And i triple check everything by experts in these threads before making any adjustments. Im considered a very noob at this still. but the people over at msf are extremely nice and willing to help out any mazdaspeed owners. A lot of these experts have hit the limit on the stock turbos (about 400whp) and gone to big turbo route and make more than 450-500whp. And a lot of them have been tuning their cars by themselves.
we do have OTS map reflashes like apr tunes for gtis, but these maps are usually not too overly aggressive because companies absolutely cant risk someone going BOOM with its OTS map. So what people do is, take certain OTS map and start fine tuning everything from there.

damn thats pretty cool, I love cars that have great communities.
I would like something like even if I didnt do it, you get a great learning experience it seems like.
good luck man!
If I ever get a GTI expect some runs haha or we should have an acurazine autox meet, that would be cool but not doing it with my acura.

My tune is based off of the "Safe Mode" map calibrated by Cobb. And the adjustments that I'm making are extremely conservative. I'm being very careful because I'm still waiting for my hpfp.
Thanks for the heads up though!
Once you see the map and the data log, you will know I'm not any close to pushing the car at all. My WGDC is under 30% throughout the turbo powerband.
