I've Got a New Plan

I am going to sell my house. I'll take the proceeds and buy one of these.

With the remainder, I'm going to buy a little 1 Bdr efficiency on the beach.

I'll still have to work though .

Whadda ya think?

I wonder how I'm going to convince my wife .... ?

Make sure you live somewhere where you can drive it hard, preferably near a mountain range or something.

Oh, and don't forget life insurance.

Talk to her about it and if you're still alive then you can start thinking about it. If you have no problem with living in a 1br beach house with your wife, hell go for it!!!

Absolutely, if your retirement is in check, your not in debt, you have a place to live and you want a toy like this, do it, what are you going to do? wait until your 60 when you will never really drive it/enjoy it.

Most of us are in our 20's and there is a huge difference between us and someone in their 40's. I am all about saving for the future, but the simple fact is you need way less then most believe, if you have enough and are saving enough then enjoy the rest, life's to short and you can't take it with you.

Not at all, but gradually your senses will start to numb themselves a bit, you will be less able to deal with discomfort, speed and handling. I wouldn't want a car like this much past 55, most folks that age(most younger for that matter) just won't be able to manage it safely, or drive it like it is suppose to be driven. Like I said, don't liquidate your retirement to get a 911 turbo, that's just plain dumb, but if your retirement is in good standing, and life affords you the luxury to enjoy before your to old to enjoy it, do it and you'll never regret it.

Have I mentioned my financial advisors don't like me much these days

Actually, if it were me, I would probably go for a CarreraS or maybe even a BoxsterS(depending on my driving ability) and consider a 2br beach house

That's the healthiest guy I've ever seen that has weeks to live. Really sad. Cancer sucks but Pancreatic has to be among the worst.

Those are big ifs at the beginning of your post

Beside, even after everything you just said, it's still not a good investment.

Yes, but after those "ifs" you don't need to invest

Not to mention most cars are never investments.

Now, 911 Turbos are less horrific than others (like Audi S8s) but I would not buy one new.

'94 911 Turbos still fetch $75k at auctions like Carlisle.

My opinion is buy used and you can keep it for a while and really not lose a lot of money if it's a 2nd car.
