Its time for Acura to wake up and go RWD
Its time for Acura to change over their sedans into a rwd platform, and as an option awd but derive from a rwd layout. If they want to become a serious contender in the real sports/luxury sedan market, they're going to have to step it up and stop making fwd cars. They are consider a near luxury brand, whats near luxury!you're either a luxury brand or a regular brand. there's no other car company in the world that calls then self near luxury.

a) The Acura NSX is rwd which makes you sound foolish.
b) They've got SH-AWD in the RL now, and is beginning to put this technology in its other models (RDX) so we can expect all Acura's to migrate to an AWD platform, so why would they want to go RWD?

This is why no RWD (no offense to CLpower) but it happens to the best of us:

That happens when we take traction control off. Its more driver error than the RWD.
I would love to get back into a RWD car and I plan to. I just wont turn off my TCS until i learn how to take the car to its limit on a track.

If you want RWD, buy a RWD car.... Nothing is forcing you to buy an Acura
I like RWD... drove RWD almost exclusively for the past 20 something years, in snowy new england, with tires ranging from bald to half way decent all seasons, so you won't find me saying that there's anything wrong w/ rwd....
I'm an anti awd guy too, I believe awd adds unnecessary complexity, weight, and robs power from the rear wheels...
BUT, Acura doesn't have to do shit... They can make what they want, and you can buy it, or not... that's just the way it is...
Here's a link to chew on... Why Front-Wheel Drive Sucks... And why rear-wheel drive is coming back.

FWD is more for the average car driver, while RWD is more for the enthusiast imo.
SH-AWD is for all though

if you live somewhere it snows alot or if you venture to the Mtn. on a regular basis, RWD is laughable.

You can say that because Lexus only offers 1 car in FWD, the ES350, all their others car are RWD/AWD. Infiniti doesn't even have a FWD car anymore. All of theirs are RWD and AWD.

Acura is selling cars and that's all that matters. Their focus now is going to be SH-AWD, no RWD anytime soon, only maybe for the new NSX. They're not the only luxury brand to use a FWD platform; non-quattro Audis are FWD.

Here in the NW, where it rains all the time, the CLS is the hot ticket - fast, and it can put it down on wet pavement way better than RWD.

The RL's AWD system causes the handling to be really neutral, you have to drive it to believe it. It would be ideal if it weighed less--it adds 200 pounds or so to the weight of the car.
Acura's chosen its direction (FWD + AWD) and that's that.

I think there doing what audi is doing kind of. Doesnt audi only have FWD and there AWD. I think if they offer an AWD option that should be good for them since AWD preforms well. Im not sure the numbers on audis profits but I see a lot around so if they can make it work im sure acura can too.

That said, this topic has been discused ad nauseum.
I personally do not believe that the TL needs RWD as its FWD serves it fairly well and the only demand for power to the rear (on TLs) come from a relatively small group of enthusiasts, for whom 'edge of the envelope' driving performance is desired.
In most head to head comparisons, the TL's handling numbers show that it can perform ON PAR with its RWD counterparts from Infiniti, BMW and Lexus.
As far as the RL goes, Acura just needs to incorporate an optional V8 motor and adapt SH-AWD accordingly. Likewise, the next gen TSX will hopefully incorporate the K23A powertrain and it will be serious player.....with some serious mod potential as well.

It's time for Acura to wake up and make a flying car like the flying Delorean. Then we wouldn't have to worry about AWD, RWD, and FWD. All we have to worry about is the hoverconverter
