IS350 test drive
I gotta admit ..he's got a point. The IS2/350 and the Camry do look similar enough that I have to look twice before I know for sure which car I'm looking at.
Also, size wise I know someone who got rid of her civic and got an IS350 because the cars were nearly the same size. I think that speaks volumes ...

I need one with ~40k, 05+...
I think I may have found "the one"....checking it out today or tomorrow.Only thing "wrong" with it is its not black...and non black cars are pretty :ghey: But it is 6MT with nav and the 19s...Only mod following would be tints.

If you don't know him, he's like the msl82 of IS350.

One thing for certain: Claiming comparisons of an IS to a Camry is a joke.

It really doesn't matter what I call it at this point, you took the bait, now you're trying to find ANY possible excuse to make yourself look like less of an idiot. You should take your own advice...quit while you're ahead

Now go tell your mommy.
It's time to
this thing up.
For the record (and back on topic) I really enjoyed my test drive of the IS350. It wasn't quite as fast as I was expecting for some reason, but the interior was fantastic and I personally love the exterior styling. THe gauges are cool looking and the nav graphics are awesome. I thought it handled fairly well and the steering feel wasn't nearly as bad as most of the mags say. All and all, it was a close runner up to the G and the 335i when I finally went with the Infiniti.....
^ I agree with the handling characteristics. My mom owns the IS250, and I don't know if there's a big difference between 250 and 350 in terms of handling capabilities, but I can tell you that it's pretty entertaining to drive fast in the twisties. It's quite stable. I think it feels totally different from my TL (RSB is the only sus mod on my TL) but in a good way (RWD i guess).
I initially had a expectation that IS250 was going to be boring as hell to drive, but I have to say my expectation was truly wrong. And the leather is ridiculously SOFT. How do they do that???

i can see how people may confuse the rearlights of the IS and camry.
however, with that said, the cars don't look anything alike. the difference in size between the two should be telling enough.
i like the IS a lot...i think it's a great car. it's not perfect by any means and the back seats are way too cramped. but i think it's a great looking car, inside and out, and i had fun test driving it.

I don't know why but the IS feels much lighter than my TL. How much do they weight? Anyone know?
I've never taken the IS to the limit since it's my mom's car (I'd never do that), so I don't know how they will handle without traction control. However, the IS never made any noise going through those twisties, it was very smooth.
On the other hand, my TL feels heavier and makes a lot of noise whenever I push the car a little through the twisties. Nonetheless, without any major suspension mods, the TL is surprisingly a great handling capabilities. It has a plenty of grip, and the RSB really cuts the body roll in half.
RWD vs. FWD I guess.

. I have only been in an older IS300 and an IS F (man does that thing haul ass) so I can't say how an IS350 compares to my brothers 05 TL since the F is a different monster.

For someone who wants more luxury with a little performance, its great, especially since you get the best dealer/service treatment.
And I have driven the IS350...I like it a lot, but I have always HATED Lexus auto-stick transmissions. The amount of lag when "manually" shifting is horrendous.
I did drive a IS-F on a dyno for 1/4 mile. great exhaust note, much better tranny.

The driving dynamics, road stability, steering feedback, and its extremely linear power deff make it a better car to drive. I took both to about 90-100 and the BMW was without question the better car. At those speeds, it felt as if I was going 40mph and I could handle any turn that would come my way...With the IS, I felt the complete opposite. Too floaty, too soft, and almost zero steering feedback. The steering wheel might as well be a fully electric joystick...And I agree with Sarlacc, the shift times are slow. The only thing I didn't like about the 335 was the interior design, which is probably where the Lex takes the cake. It is far too bland and uninspired for a 40k+ car. However, I did feel more secure and supported in the 335's seats (sport) vs. the IS. I also liked the steering wheel of the 335 much more, and the buttons didn't feel as cheap/flimsy in the 335. If you press around the radio on the IS you can hear the plastics behind it making wierd noises...the 335 was pretty much solid. That being said, the IS wins everything else as far as interior goes. The gauges on the IS are downright sick
You know what my car needs? Tints.

I'm not sure if there is a sport package, but you can upgrade to Bilsteins which should significantly improve handling. I've only driven an IS350 that was on coilovers, so handling seemed fine to me.

And I agree, the 3g TL handles very well in the twisties for being a FWD vehicle.
