Interesting RL

Are 05 RL's really getting this cheap ?? I've seen 'em for $36K before here and there... but this is the first one I've seen for under $30K...

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?car_id=208671561

Sure it's got 56K miles on it, but for the price it seems like a decent deal...

Carfax looks clean too: http://www.carfax.com//ccc_DisplayHi...KB16545C003743

Thank god this one is 250 miles away or I'd be tempted to drive out and see it in person. If I did that who knows what I'd be driving home

Seems about right. I mean that is a lot of miles of a 2005 model.

I'd rock it.

I'm seeing mint condition '04 RL's with 30,000 miles or less for under $20,000

I'm really really tempted...

1st gen RL's aren't the most interesting cars ever built but they are well built, solid, classy vehicles.

But that price on the 05 is tempting. My pick would be an 06 with Tech and Aspec though.

Ken, don't you have a 05 TL for a highway driver (besides the 97) ??

RL is MUCH quieter than the TL is.

I think Ken and I are the rare ones here who have respect for the 1st gen RL.

People would think im nuts if i said i would pick a 1st gen RL over the 3rd gen TL.. but I would.

I do and as the Jesal pointed out, the RL is a better cruiser. It also has more usable room, front and back. The trunk is a proper size. I dont need 270/258 hp. The 2002-2004 RL while having much lighter steering effort sadly has more steering feedback. Lack of steering assist + dead steering feeling is just awful.

In addition, my '05 while great handling has a rough and choppy ride. I've changed tires, that didnt fix it and its getting to the point where I'll probably get 16 inch wheels. The '03 TL-P was a good ride/handling compromise. Its sad but my girlfriend's Impreza has a much more civilized ride while handling just as well

And '04 RL has voice recognition satellite nav, XM and an excellent stereo system. Sure its not DVD-A but I dont care THAT much. I generally listen to talk radio and Opie and Anthony anyway

I see where you are coming from. The more I read about (and hear about) the 1st gen RLs, the more appealing they are to me.

a bit off-topic....however did the 1st gen RLs suffer from the same transmission issue as the TL/CL?

This thread came at the right time, GreenMonster..... You have been following my car search for quite some time! hah! I'm now trying to get an '05 RL! For an '05 with 10k-30k miles, I'm seeing prices within my budget (33-34k range). Resale is horrible on this car... but for me... FTW!

Too many miles for an '05.... but a few k more... around 33-35, you can get an ultra low mileage '05 RL...

No they did not. They used an upgraded version of the Legend transmission. Solid, reliable and smooth shifting, but only a 4 speed auto. It was shared with the 1st gen 3.2 TL as well. Do a tranny flush at the scheduled times and it'll last as long as the car.
