Initial Quality?

I just came across this list.
http://autos.msn.com/advice/article....&src=LP%20utes

I find it interesting that Honda only has one on the list while Nissan has five. I mean, what's that all about?

And the G6 beating out the Accord and Camry?

We've had our Murano for 6 months now and everything has been perfect. No complaints on my G35 either after two years.

I do think Nissan makes a very well built car... At least in my experiences...

yeah it pisses me off that the G6 beat a Accord or Camry. the funny thing is I go by the Pontiac dealers and they have TONS of them(keep in mind this is the first model year for the G6) and the Camry and Accord's design been around for a little bit now. I go to the Toyota or Honda dealer and they have maybe 10-12 at the most Accords or Camrys. I think the G6 is flop.

Yep, I hear the G6 isn't selling well at all...GM is in some serious trouble...(IMHO)

Well, it's not working.

A friend just bought a G6. I didn't kow he was in the market or I would have helped him. lol I haven't ridden in it yet, but it does look like a decent car.

Well, I think it means something to the masses. People notice these things when they're looking for a new car.

But they're even more likely to notice the "higher level" feeling of a car on a test drive. I drove a Grand Am and a Camry back to back, and there is just NO comparison. I just got that "one with the car" feeling from the Camry, and nothing from the Grand Am. I'm sure the G6 is much improved, but I've sat in the interior at the auto show, and it was still a little bit too Fischer-Price like for how much the damn thing costs. People are used to paying less for Pontiacs, so it's not an easy sell at its current price.

Well, I bet there are people who won't test drive or consider an Accord because the "quality" isn't up to the G6 level (according to this article). Alls I'm sayin' is...people can be stupid.

Besides, this just isn't a list Honda should be low on...I mean, what's the deal with that?

wait 10-12 years when #1. the G6 looks like it's been throught WWI and WW2. plus it resale value is nothing.
when I can speak for my Accord it's going strong after 11 years old and I know I can get about 3 grand out of it.

Don't think I would want a 10-12 year Lexus let alone an Accord or G6. 2nd, peoples perceptions of past GMs doesn't mean the same holds true today, G6 could very well end up being a long term performer.

What's wrong with a 10-12 year old Lexus or Accord? People drive them all the time. Resale is generally high. And Hondas and Lexuses (Lexi?) are known to go for a very long time without any major mechanical problems. They make great first cars for teens and university students. I don't contend that the G6 might be a long term performer. It very well may. But knowing the engine in it (which is just the same engine they've used for long time), it will get noisy and rough as it ages. Old Honda engines are still smooth as silk. And I wouldn't trust any auto transmission from any manufacturer longer than 12 years.

Oh, and notice where PONTIAC is on that list (I just did because of our talk of the G6)...it seems to be a contradiction given the standing of Buick and GMC. Does anyone else not notice this? Most of GM's divisions are at the tail end anyway. GM trucks are where GMC gets its ratings from. They're generally well put together and solid. They don't make cars under that brand name. Their cars are Chevrolet, which are below the industry average as well. Buick and Cadillac are their only brands up high.

According to the article, the G6's quality would be BELOW the Accord...see my above statement.

Nothings wrong with it if you need an inexpensive car, I had a 91 nissan going through college and it ran and ran, but I'd never do it again. 1: for the overall upkeep of the car-parts wear out just from wear and tear, and 2: how far behind in technology the car is.

Well if it's all that a person can afford, it's better than some of the other offerings out there.

The Audi is designed to just fall apart on the 91st day of ownership.
