Is the infiniti m35 capable of high milage?

I have heard of some Tls getting up to 200,000 miles. Visiting infiniti sites it seems as the m35 are hardly driven. I also have searched on auto trader and not to many M35's over 70,000 miles.

Just curious to know if you guys know if the M35 has a reliable drivetrain and if they are capable of going over 200,000 miles? Maintanence is a big plus, I am aware of that. thanks to all.

uh, what year TL's are getting up to 200k miles? The M35 has only been out since 2006...it's only been out 4 years, how many people do you expect to drive a $45k car 50k a year?

If you want to make a comparison, look at 350z's and 1st gen G35's...the M35 is built on a slightly newer generation of that same platform.

I would see no reason to think that the M35 won't go that long.

All you have to do is search Craigslist for Maximas and I35s and you'll find cars with 170-200k miles all day long.

I've seen them too, but I think they were pre-2006 which means they were based on the Q45 platform and only available with V8. The 2006 M35/45's (current generation) I've found a couple up to 60-70k miles, which reflect more realistic mileages for '06 models that were released in '05...approx. 4 years old (I bought my '06 fall of '05 and only have 32k miles on it).

But you can check out earlier G35's, FX35's, and 350Z's which all are based on a slightly older paltform with the 3.5l VQ engine, but these are also relatively newer models when compared to the 1 and 2G TL's, so you'll only find examples into the 100k's.

If you're concerned with the engine itself, like someone said earlier, check out older maximas and I35's with the VQ engine.

I would expect the infiniti drivetrain's to be way beefier than acura's
How many of us know TL, CL Type-S owners going through trannys every 15-20k miles??

I'd be more worried about the electronic compents more than the engine/tranny combo...

Adaptive cruise control, land departure warning, etc. All that stuff will be expensive to replace. Especially the sensors that make all these things work!

I know a few who have had their trannys replaced, but none going through trannys that fast. Maybe one over the lifetime of their car (with a few exceptions of those who had multiples).

Plus, that problem was on a small range of cars, has been fixed and is now the exception rather then the norm...

I've currently got 158k miles on my CL type S, and I still love it, but I'm on my 3rd tranny. As far as I'm concerned, they may have issued a recall, but the chronic problem has been FAR from "fixed".

Subsequently, my wife is on her 3rd Infiniti (FX35) - her 4th Nissan product - and they have all been problem free well past 100k miles.

I've actually seen the 06's with over 100K already...

There was one 06 M45 SPORT black with 99K for $15,500, that was tempting!

When was the last one replaced? Everyone I know (including me) who had the tranny oil jet which was part of the recall never had another failure.

April, 2004 - 65k - First Tranny was replaced
June, 2005 - 80k - Oil jet was installed
October, 2006 - 110k - Second tranny was replaced
June, 2009 - 155k - present time - still on 3rd tranny - still kickin', but not exactly tight either...

Because people know that cars that are more fun don't last as long as appliances.

Damn, that sucks. I'd be surprised if your third tranny goes. I stand by my original post though b/c I said currently it is the exception rather then the norm . With the exception of a few people on here I don't know of anyone having a second or third tranny replaced since 2005-2006...

It's an exception now...it was the norm back in 2001-2005 where it seemd every other new thread was a new tranny explosion and Honda techs still said "That's the first time I've seen this problem" to everyone, even to the 3rd guy that came into the same dealership that day with a dead tranny.

i know you said a few people are the exception... im one.

my tranny on my 02 tl-s was replaced october of 2006 ... then it just went again in april.

however, it wasnt the recalled problem that caused the failure. somehow, it spilled out all of my tranny fluid because there was some sort of leak in it
