Where the hell does the time go? It's been a whole year (to the day) since I placed the order for the car...
The car's been great so far, just ticked over 11,000km's on Monday. It's a great daily driver... Easy to drive, gets good gas mileage, addictive powerband, quiet, surprisingly smooth yet holds itself really well when you want to take an on-ramp much faster than you really should (we all do it, don't lie)...
I know there's a lot of talk about these cars and the issues with the transmissions (and I'm incredibly dissapointed with Fords accountability of the situation, or lack there of...) but mine has been rather well behaved. It does hick-up first thing in the morning if you try and shift too fast, but once the trans is up to temp it's smooth sailing. I know this isn't the case for many other 2011/2012 owners and it's a damn shame. I can only count my blessings that my car isn't one of the affected ones.
If anybody has any questions, feel free to ask.....

Just wish front plates weren't mandatory up here. I think your car would look so much better without it. Love the lines of the good though, I think that's what sets off the front.

with the stories ive heard, your gonna need some ground clearence that a mustang will never give you.talked to a guy that bough a new evoX and has a grand cherokee just for the snow.i would imagine that all that dirt and snow and dirt is good for the paint on the lower side of the car either

Why do these guys always brag about this??
Do Audi guys brag about their Quattro system? No?
So annoying.
You can totally live with a set of good snow tires.

I'm a regular over at Audizine. They don't brag about it. Maybe because they had the system for so long?
I really don't know why a lot of 4G TL owners act like the super awesome godlike handling AWD is the shit. I know it works well. It's a good AWD system, but does that mean it's the best car on the world? No.

Yes aimtimes100 I plan on driving the car straight on through the winter. I originally bought steelies and Hankook winter tires, but I didn't like the idea of steelies... So I bought these 2005 Mustang GT wheels:
Just trying them on...
I put my Hankook winters on those wheels, sold my steelies, and the tires that came on the GT wheels and nearly broke even...
This is a local guy that bought a 5.0 as his winter beater (it also runs 10.5 in the quarter mile, is lowered on race springs and has an aftermarket chin spoiler ) and says the car was great in the snow. I'm curious to see how 'great' it really is but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.
The car has been great. Gas mileage is an average of 9.5L/100km's, or about 25 mpg. Just about to hit 18,000km's.
Couple weeks back I went on a weekend fall cruise (Huntsville area) with a couple of guys from the local SHO club (yes, I still hang out with them )... The car handled every bit I could throw at it and just asked for more. We hit some of the best roads in Ontario, with a total of 10 hours driving over 2 days, I didn't want it to end

They're actually not on the car yet... I just tested that one to make sure it cleared everything and fit ok. Not quite cold enough for winter tires (but we're getting close )

Looks like NHTSA didn't find anything that would require Ford to perform a safety recall.

There's a thread for that.

BTW - I think this thread needs a new name.

Yup, NHTSA didn't find anything. I'm not surprised, but that still leaves lots of owners in the dark...
If my transmission doesn't break, I'm pretty sure my driveshaft will

Here's a couple crappy pics from the car wash a few days ago.
I'm waiting for it to actually snow to take a couple nice pics.
I figure I've got summer:
I've got fall:
Now I need one at the same angle in a snowy parking lot... Only problem is that there's no snow in the forecast!

Thanks I'll keep that in mind
PS. Snow doughnuts First time driving the car in any real substantial snow. Traction control and Advance-Trac work great to keep the car straight, luckily they both can be turned off
As long as I can stay away from unplowed hills, it'll be just fine

Looks good, probably a lot of fun in the snow with the rwd. Guy I used to work with had a stang with snows for the winter, got around ok, but the hills can be an issue at slow speeds. I used to mess with him and go flying by him in my Legacy. You should be fine.

Just traded my '04 TL for a Kona Blue 2011 V6 premium. The TL was great. Had 151K of trouble free driving....loved the car. I figured it was time and saw the mustang online at a nearby dealer. Had pangs of remorse when I dropped off the TL, but a few miles in the mustang and I've gotten over my buyer's remorse pretty quickly. Now I just have to worry about winter in the new ride.

Did you get the 6MT or the AT?
Enjoy your new ride. Oh...invest in a set of winter tires NOW, and you'll be set for the winter.

I've got 4 Hankook snow tires on mine and love it. Advancetrac also works wonders to keep the car pointing in the right direction. Almost surreal how it'll just pull the car back in line in anything from deep snow to ice. Cool stuff.
Oh, and if you feel the need for some parking lot fun (it's a Mustang in the snow, how can you not?) just push the traction control button once (It'll say "Traction Control Off" then put your foot on the brake and hold the traction control button. After about 8 seconds it'll say "AdvanceTrac Off". Then have at it

Factory Pirelli's are 235/55/18 and my Hankook winters are 225/60/17. Even though my summers are 18's and winters are 17's the overall diameter of the tires is nearly identical thanks to the thicker sidewall on the Hankooks.

Definitely the best way to go...narrow snows with a higher profile.
