I think I'm ordering a V6 Mustang this week.....
I went to the dealership yesterday and drove a V6 convertible with the automatic, which is completely opposite of how I'd order it. I'd have the 6-speed coupe with the pony package, upgraded interior (leather heated seats, Sync, real aluminum trim), and HID's. Even though it was an automatic convertible I enjoyed driving it, a lot...
The price came out to just under 30k out the door, which is what I'm looking to spend. I've looked and really can't find any car that offers the features, power, and overall package for similar money.
I've considered a 2004-2005 BMW 330Ci ZHP, but for the exact same money (yes, low mileage ZHP coupes are pricey here) I can get this brand new car, with more power, much better features and a full warranty. Doesn't make sense to buy anything else.
If anybody that can suggest me something brand new, with similar features, for the same price I'd love to hear it. I've looked at the Genesis Coupe and I much prefer the Mustang overall. I've looked at CPO G37 coupes and they are all 35k before taxes...
Which colour do you prefer? All cars pictured have the Pony Package. I'm liking the Sterling Gray:
Black:

Kona Blue:
I'm sure there will be people saying "save your money, invest it, you'll need it later in life"... Let me just say that since I've started working I've religiously saved and invested my money (other than the Waverunner and 5.0 Mustang ) and will be able to do this for myself without much of an issue.

The Sterling Gray is the one I'd go with.. and with one more change. I'd get the new Coyote V8 engine. The new 2011 Mustang with this engine has got to be the best thing going for the money.

I was going to say that a V6 Mustang is really not a "real" Mustang but the new ones have 305 ponies and get 31 mpg. Hmm... Tough. The only other complaint that I would have is to single tailpipe and the little wheels. You may be able to cure one of those to make it look better.
Overall I think you should take a 2nd and 3rd look at the Genesis coupe. It is sportier looking, has the same amount of HP and more equipment, comparibly priced. Between the two the V6 Mustang would be 2nd on that list for me.

I took Wednesday of this week off to do some shopping around. I'll most likely go drive the Genesis coupe again, but one thing I noticed is that the Genesis coupe was not nearly as smooth or quiet as the convertible Mustang was on the highway, I've been told the coupes are even quieter.

I think it's a great looking car, real head turner. Sure, the interior isn't as nice as the Mustangs, but I can get over that. What I couldn't get over was the lack of outward visibility. At first I thought all the journalists were just trying to find faults with the car, until I actually went to look at one. The windshield comes down so low infront of you, and the small side and rear windows really make it feel like you're sitting in a bath tub... I'm 6'2" tall and my neck was inline with the top of the window sill. For a weekend driver or something I'm sure it would be fine; But driving that car every day would get to be a hassle, I'm sure.

Is employee pricing still on? I priced out a 5.0 a few weeks back for 35k IIRC (with upgrade pkgs etc). That was online though, so I am sure extra costs would bump up the price somewhat. Had me thinking some crazy thoughts about getting a mustang, but then practicality, my love for my TSX as a DD, and other things tying up my money right now quickly rushed back into my mind.

Yup, employee pricing is still on. That's 35k before fees and taxes, which will easily bring it up around 37-38k... If this were going to be my weekend car I'd hold off a few more months and get the 5.0, but since it's the DD I could easily settle for the V6.

I know what you mean dallison. I keep having thoughts of dumping the TSX and just getting something new and different. I Love my TSX as a DD though, so if I can hold out,.....I am thinking about keeping it long term and grabbing a Cayman S (used) or something in a few years.

I know exactly what you mean... Trust me... I know the old saying "It looses value as soon as it leaves the lot" but on the other hand, like I mentioned, I don't want to go for a 4 or 5 year old car, for the same price as this brand new one, that will start to require serious maintenance soon.

Nice.
All those colors are nice...but the I'd probably get the grey last. Maybe that's just because I have a grey car now.
I've always had a thing for black cars , but that is a sweet ass blue color too.
Personally I like the black and blue equally with the grey a close second.

2. What is included in the pony package?
Great car. I too am considering a new Mustang for the same reasons that you've listed. But being the glutton that I am, I'd probably get the 5.0. Let us know how it goes.

I'm getting it because it makes the V6 Mustang not look like the rental Mustangs.

Good deal!
btw...what was the visibility out of the car like? That is one of the biggest complaints I've read about the Camaro...can't see out.

They eliminate any blind spots very well. They're much more useful than I thought they'd be.

Congrats! Personally, I would go for the black.

I can't see the Genesis a car worth $7000 more than the Mustang.
And if the handling isn't up to par as the Genesis, I'll buy the $250 Eibach springs and let the $7000 I saved sleep easily in my pocket

The 2011 V6 has a true dual exhaust, and the 18's that come with the Pony package are large enough. Paying over $300 a tire for 19's on a daily driver is

BTW, Why are you considering a convertible for a DD?

I'm actually not getting a convertible, that's all the dealership had for me to drive. I'd get the 6-speed coupe.
Edit: TS_eXpeed got it
Edit #2: cjTL, I also love the grabber blue colour, but I know for sure I'd grow out of it very quickly.
