TSX is like a smaller, less powerful TL...but some say they are more fun to drive because they are lighter...

I'd go with a TL if it's in your budget.

It also depends what you want for operating costs.

The TL will be:
-more expensive to operate (more $$$ for gas, insurance)
-worse handling

+more comfortable
+better interior, audio, gadgets
+more powerful by a fair bit
+more interior space
+better looking

whereas the 06 TSX will be:
-cheaper interior materials, no DVD-Audio
-slower, but the 06 version closes the gap further (53hp difference I think)
-a few less features and slightly harsher ride
-less interior space
-auto transmission version is slow

-+seats are tighter and smaller (could be good or bad depending how big you are)

+more nimble/better handling
+significantly better on gas (by up to 5 or 6 MPG in the city)
+manual transmission is more "natural" than on the TL

TSX 6MT>TL 6MT

I own a 6mt TSX, i went with the TSX mainly for the money savings (although i could have afforded a TL), the tighter suspension, the firmer seats. But the TL is a great car too. It depends on what you are looking for.

I was coming out of a A6, so I was sick of that big, floaty ride. I wanted something small and tight. The TSX was that. If you want a highway cruiser, TL. If you want a more nimble, sportier ride, TSX. Both are a great choice...

TL's will get you to 60 much faster, but both cars will get there and the TSX will be more fun once your there...

Oh I was talking strictly about the gear box itself, not the cars as a whole. I love the 6MT feel on the TL gearbox much better than the 6MT feel of the TSX gearbox. TSX definetly handles better.

I have a 05 TSX, my gf has a 05 TL.

My car is much more fun to drive if that's what you're looking for and you can use the extra $5000 to add some nice performance and exterior mods to make it look awesome.

Oh, the interior is a little nicer and a little bigger, but not worth the extra $5000-$6000 IMO

Go test both cars out and see what you like more. Just remember that you could use the extra money you save from getting a TSX for nice mods

Click my Car Domain link below to see some pics of a TSX modified.

Last time I checked the TL is made in the US, but the TSX was still made in Japan, I think that makes a difference.

If 1SickTL plans to mod then I'd have to lean towards the TSX, mainly if he wants to go FI. I understand that Cybernation is working on a turbo kit for the TSX. If their RSX is any indicator, the TSX should be pretty SICK as well!!

We need to know his budget

I've sat in Ferrari's and could feel/see the money difference immediatly, doesn't mean i'm spending $200K on one

Agree with what youre saying....but a $4000 difference vs. $200,000 difference is a pretty big difference. (enough with the difference talk for one thread )

I'm pretty sure its the other way around. I havn't heard near the accolades the TSX MT box gets from TL reviews.

I agree with Zeroday. I'm not going for an Acura again in a few months because it would just really be the same thing for me for the next 3 years. You'll just get tired of it again. Might I recommend an Infiniti or Lexus. Wait, this is Acurazine, buy the Acura.

TSX if you want to mod it. A simple Hondata chip install will give you net gains of 29 hp.

i took my aunts loaner TSX out for a high ride, and yea it is light nimble and stuff but i hated the power delivery. i was bored with it because i didn't have the power i was looking for at all. it is sporty and fun to throw around, but it also feels like it runs on rails. my dad had a 04tl and i loved that car, never got bored of it, i loved the power and the delivery of it. it felt it had more in it, where as the TSX i thought i was half throttle on it where i was like 80% throttle and when i pushed for more i was like wtf??, because i felt nothing there. and i like the feel of a settled suspension in the TL. so if i was you get the TL, i love it and didn't get bored of it for the 2 months i had to drive it, i got bored with the tsx in 30 minutes.

at a comptech Rear sway bar and you have a fun to drive, great handling car that get's great fuel economy with plenty of money left over to have fun doing other things. I wouldn't spend more on an Acura then I did on the TSX, I would look to Infiniti or Lexus.

I also agree with what other's say, I have an 04 Accord EX and an 04 Acura TSX and they are very similar(since they are essentially the same car), though the TSX is more fun, faster, built better with better options and more stylish - but its not a quantum leap in.

They're totally not the same. I drove an Accord back to back with a TSX and it felt like the Accord was a cruise ship in comparison. Sure, the TSX is an Accord, but it's a EURO Accord. That makes a very large difference. I think I'd get MUCH more annoyed with the lack of fuel economy on the TL than the not as much power on the TSX. And drive the 06 TSX when it comes out...the difference in power is less. I think it has 10hp more than 2005.

I've got the two sitting side by side, a 2004 Accord EX 4cyl 5spd. w/leather non-nav. and a 2004 Acura TSX 6MT non-nav. You would be SHOCKED at how "Mr. Potato Head" these cars are, virtually everything can be transfered back and fourth. Swap the springs/struts and wheels/tire to the accord and vice versa the TSX would feel like a cruise ship. I've put about 21k miles on the TSX and about 13k miles on the Accord. There is no denying the TSX is a better all around car(other then interior space) but the Accord is not far behind - in particular with a comptech RSB.

Also I believe the 06 is only getting 5hp, I'll see if I can find the article that listed the changes.

TSX

The TSX has built a strong following among sports sedan buyers, won a plethora of awards (including being twice named to Car & Driver’s 10Best Cars list) and gained a reputation for being both stylish and fun to drive. For 2006, Acura made some dynamic changes to the TSX to enhance its performance, make the styling even sportier and increase interior comfort. The result is a sports sedan that is more luxurious, more aggressive-looking and even more fun to drive.
Modifications to the intake and exhaust systems were made to the TSX’s 2.4-liter i-VTEC™ four cylinder engine to boost horsepower to 205 hp SAE net (Rev 8/04). Interior enhancements include an upgraded navigation system, the HandsFreeLink™ wireless telephone interface, and a digital media auxiliary jack located in the center console for iPod® and MP3 players to name a few.

Outside, the TSX gets sporty, redesigned front and rear fascias, new sidesills, redesigned alloy wheels and standard integrated fog lamps.

Powertrain

Horsepower increased to 205 SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 7000 rpm
Torque increased to 164 lbs-ft. SAE net (Rev 8/04) @ 4500 rpm
Larger intake valves
Increased valve timing and lift
Increased intake and exhaust flow
Reduced engine pumping losses
Chassis

Electronic Brake Assist
Increased rigidity of upper A-arm reduces NVH
Exterior Styling

Restyled hood and grille
Redesigned headlights and combination taillights
Redesigned front and rear bumpers
Fog lamps are integrated into the lower bumper
More pronounced side sills
New nine-spoke alloy wheels
Flat wiper blades increase visibility and reduce wind noise
Four new exterior colors: Alabaster Silver Metallic replaces Satin Silver, Glacier Blue Metallic replaces Meteor Silver Metallic, and Deep Green Pearl, and Royal Blue Pearl are added
Interior

2-position memory for driver’s seat
Auxiliary audio jack in center console for digital music players
HandsFreeLink™ wireless telephone interface
Sports steering wheel
Multi-info display
New meter face
New wood-patterned trim for models with Parchment interior
Metallic garnish added to shift knob.
Smart Maintenance system
Enhanced Acura Navigation System (optional)
Larger buttons and fonts
Faster processing speed
Points of Interest (POI) database increased to 7 million
