I must admit I like the Acura TL
Dropped off my dads car to get few things done before warranty ended and they gave me this beauty.
2006 TL auto, no navi.
This car is leaps and bounds better than the 2gen TLS I had! Brakes are much firmer and steering is much tiighter. Handling is the same deal..vastly improved!
Engine seems to have much more punch at lower RPMs, pretty good for this engine. Power came smoothly and didnt feel any lag before vtec kicked in.
BUT fwd is just cant handle this engine, i think i spun the wheels at almost every corner and light (wasnt even trying to go fast). Torque steer is just terrible when you get on it though. Granted theres salt on the roads so that wouldnt help but still.
Interior is classy and layed out well but the materials are OK. I dont like the hard plastic everywhere. This had no navi and i thought the digital display on the radio was pretty tacky. Reminded me of 80s digital clocks. Love the gauge cluster of course.. that blue is very attractive. And talk about DEEP cupholders
Stereo was MEH. Def was one of the cars weak spots, then again all i listened to was XM radio.
I know I suck at giving reviews but i figured i wanted to share my thoughts. I personally think this car would be a winner with SH-AWD.
P.S, this is one sexy looking car!!

i got a TL with navi as a loaner too (only a 2004 though). not too impressed with the stereo either. for a system that has its own sub, it sure doesn't produce much bass. the sound system in my volvo cross country is way better.
the voice activation ability is kinda gimmicky. would probably rarely use it other than to show off to other people.
overall a pretty nice car.

Man you guys have high expectations. I love everthing about my mom's 2G TLP, including the stereo system, and I'm sure the 3G TL is leaps and bounds better in every way. Of course this might just be because my first and only car is a late 80s Toyota camry with power nothing =P
BTW I also got to sit in a 2006 TL NAVI, it's so damn nice!

That was uncalled for...
I thought one of the selling points for this TL was the surround sound system? Does that only come into effect when your listening to DVD audio?

A few of my friends have the new TL and I love the car. Great interior, nice exterior styling, more refined in almost every way than the previous TL and great options. The only major downside is that the car has outgrown the FWD layout.

Was actually hoping for a TSX since i never drove one yet and hear how great they handle.

I might head down to the local acura dealer this weekend (if I'm bored)... They've advertized a bunch of 05 leftovers, and I'm curious if they really have some for the advertized price, or if it's the old bait and switch deal.

They had a 05 Grey AT TL w/navi for 40K at the dealer a few weeks ago. Regular price is $44,800. Next time I buy a car I'm going in October/November/December to take adavantage of these deals.

From my local ad: 2005 RL with navigation $37,941 delivered... 2005 clearance...
2005 TL w/ navi $27,431 delivered...
2005 TSX $23,917 delivered...
I'm sure they probably only have a couple, but they seem like a deal...

Sounds like a used car price.
Jesal - Maybe you should ask the dealership how much you could get a new RL for. Sales have not been as expected, but not bad.

Does the TL show your MPG? I couldnt find it. Tire monitoring is pretty cool.
I been driving it some more and can say that i wont make fun of the acura TL anymore. When you arent pushing the car to its limit, it then drives perfectly.

The TL is doing well in Chicago, I see them all over! I also read in Crain's a few weeks ago that the TL is the #1 selling "luxury" car in chicago (at least in the 30k price range).

I was wondering, does it seem like the gas pedal is pretty stiff? This is the second one they gave me so I know it's not a fluke, but compared to my CL I need to really hammer the gas to get it to go. I'm not talking about power here, just the physical tension in the gas pedal.
