I hit a deer!!

Arrrrrg!! Can't believe it! I had a feeling I was gonna hit something cuz I was on a back country road and I saw something running across the street about a mile before the deer actually kissed my front end. It was on the ground kicking it's legs in the air when I left. Now it's at least $500 down the tubes and I need to find a good body shop in the Northern VA. Anyone got any recommendations?

a deer once ran straight into the side of my dads truck when he was changing his tire due to a flat. It was dark out and he said he almost had a heart attack. The truck was scratched but no dent. Scary shit hitting/getting hit by a deer...

What do you mean, "It was on the ground kicking it's legs in the air when I left"? Was it still alive? Injured?

500 being your deductible or your estimate of the total damage?

How fast were you going and what was the posted speed?

A deer hit a stationary truck? That's bizarre ...

It was alive after I hit it but I don't think it'll survive for long. Probably had internal injuries cuz I didn't see any blood on my car.

Yea, $500 is my deductible. I think the damage would be at least $1000 cause my passenger headlight is pushed in, damaged passenger fender, hood, and bumper. I'd say I was going 30-40 when I hit the deer and the speed limit is 35.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune but jesus, the least you could have done was call the police so they could have come out and put the deer out of its suffering and get it out of the street for other oncomming motorists...

Been there..done that....TWICE!!

Luckily not my TSX, it was my '00 Grand Am

The first one cracked the front bumper, "pinched" the fender and busted the foglight. $500 deductible...$2500 to fix. Going ~65 back country road late at night and it came out of the ditch on the right side. Don't know if I killed it or not.

For the second one, I got lucky. Had my gf in the car, taking her back to school and from out of no where a couple deer are walking across the road (left to right). Didn't swerve but "gently" steered to the right and CRACK my side mirror smacked against my window. That was the only damage. Had I had it down, it would've broken my arm. It better be dead.

With all the stupid deer in NJ, I can't believe I haven't hit one yet (*knocks on fake wood on desk*). I've had MANY close calls, though, including one on the first freaking day I had my new car. Jebus, it scared the shit out of me.

Maybe it would have. Maybe it didn't. You should have contacted someone to put it out of its misery.

A deer ran out into the side of my car, I was doing 30 mph, and I didn't even see him. It was out of range of my peripheral vision and next thing I know, BAM, and I see a deer face pressed against my driver side window. He then jumped onto my hood and took off into the woods. Damage: driver mirror, driver fender, front bumper, driver front door, driver rear door (he kicked it with hoof), driver front window (scratched). Bill, $6000 to repair, $500 for deductible.

I hit a deer coming home from college about 6 years ago. I was driving about 40mph and a deer jumped out into the road. I hit it while it was in the air and the force of the impact flung the deer all the way across the road. The deer never actually touched the road. It nearly came through my windshield. I would be dead right now had that deer jumped half a foot higher. Oh yeah here's the gross part: half of one of the deers legs was found on the right side of the road while the rest of the deer was on the left side. The damage was around $4000. Just another one of lifes many pleasant experiences!

My buddy hit a deer once in his saturn... i think he lucked out and only lost his license plate (don't ask me how a saturn survives a deer impact, i can't explain it). He did call the police and the officer got there and decide to put the deer out of it's misery. (this is where it gets funny) Apparently the cop stood about 5-10 feet away and aimed at the deers head and fired, and missed. so he fired again, and missed.

Finally on the third shot he killed the deer.

yes, it is wrong but would you stop your car in the middle of dark forest and check out the half dead deer or move the deer off to the side? probably not..
btw, I didn't know you can call the cop to report over dead deer.
