I Did It

I was neck and neck with an 07 Z06. We did it at Floyd Bennett Field which was empty. i beat him from 0-140 by a cunt hair and got beat after that. from a roll race of 40-140 i barely held on and he got me with the jump and vice versa. Technically i wouldnt say i had him beat as we were dead even through most with him obliterating me after 140ish.I got him off the line everytime. Mind you i am a stalled auto vs his 6speed. Needless to say i am happy, and the vette owner was very surprised.

How did you get into FBF? It's private property owned by the Feds. Additionally its the training area for the NYPD ESU and driver training.

I smell BS.

what are you talking about, people can get in. only certain areas are blocked off. There is a whole area with a concord that you can tour. Plus bike riders go there all the time to practice riding their motorcycles. For all the guys here that know me personally know that i wouldnt bother wasting my time making something like this up. You are in NY i invite you to take a ride with me anytime man. i can call up the vette owner again if you wish as we are now buddies. Seriously dude, whatever.

The area is always opened, but you will most likely get pulled over and thrown out if you go in there after 10pm.

I'm surprised you were able to get away with those runs, as I know the feds have cracked down on racing over there...

trans am, full suspension including subframes, roll cage, torque arm and tunnel brace with loop. Full exhaust, TSP built 427 based off the LS2 with their own custom ground cam and prc stage 3 warbird heads.

forgot to add the 90mm fast LSX intake manifold. reverse split cam with a 200 shot coming next summer as the motor was built with nitrous in mind. Hoping to hit about 700 +/- whp with the nitrous.

Congrats, man! Your Trans Am sounds like a beast...you got any pics of it? I tried searching but couldn't find any (with the exception of your "which wheels" thread from a few years ago).

and this is with a monster 248/254 .615/.623 on a 112 LSA stroker Cam.
This thing is barely a street car anymore. I can drive it with no problems but it's not daily driver material. lol. to put things in perspective. A 242/248 cam with under .600* of lift, on a 112 can make a stock cubed motor push around 400 to th wheels with bolt ons.

and another wow. 427 cubic inches... how's the reverse split cam? I read something about it in the advanced Gen III Internal engine section but couldn't quite grasp it. Whats the advantage with the reverse split? If you can put it in short that is

I believe the reverse split cam is one that opens the exhaust valve late and with less duration than a regular patterned cam. It allows the engine to make full use of the power stroke before the exhaust is expelled. It requires a well designed and very free flowing exhaust system, and apparently shows good increases in low and mid range torque.

That's how I understand it anyway.......bigman?

Exactly, reverse splits get more power and tq throughout the curve then a typical split. They also peak a little earlier making cars spin the engine less to make power. But what's sick about this cam is that usually reverse split cams run under.600 lift, this cam is well over.600* lift and it's also ground using comps xe-r lobe design witch has a ridiculously fast ramp up rate. This thing peaks as high as other split cams, but with the high lift and fast ramp rate, it makes me have similar peak power as normal split, way more power under the curve, and a usable powerband from 2500 to redline. I can even spin this thing to 7 grand and keep making power. It's a monster cam with the manners of a much smaller cam, the only negative is that the cam creates a noisy valvetrain, and i had to be really thourough with heads and gasket selections, because PTV(Piston to valve) clearance is an issue with this type of cam and most heads. And God knows i didnt want to have to have pistons flycut. The car is getting some longer pushrods soon to change up the valvetrain geometry, hopefully it'll quiet down a bit, we'll see.
