I converted to a V...truck

Being new to the board and browsing around, I see a few people ended up with a CTS-V. While my wife is the Acura owner ('12 MDX), I recently converted to a V....well, technically a CTS-V supercharger setup on my 2500.

So it's still slow, isn't it?

Cool to see some innovation, but I've never understood of putting big power in a truck.. it's just so dang heavy!

I like the "supercharged" badge you put on... looks very OEM and clean. And I don't mean to hate- I'm thoroughly impressed with the work and finished product!!

Curious to see what kinda numbers he's running.

A 6000lb truck @ 600whp is basically a 3000lb car w/ 300whp ... right? For a truck, that's pretty brisk

Slow is all relative lol. Is it slower than a supercharged car, yes. Is it significantly faster than it was? Duh! Can't really touch the power diesel's put out, but then again, I have just as much fun with more $ in my pocket.

By buddy pieced together the kit using nearly all OEM GM parts, a couple retrofitting, and his own fab work and it's been fantastic! The badge is actually from the Caddillac XLR-V. Perfect match!

Haven't found a dyno wide enough, but based on my buddies nearly identical setup, I'm probably around 400 to the wheels. I still need to install a smaller pulley and re-tune. That should net me closer to 500whp.

Love the build. Looks very awesome, nonetheless... And at least you aren't leaving big black diesel clouds behind you when you mash the gas. I'd hate to see the fuel economy of this sucker... 10mpg?

Thanks. It's my first supercharger and it's great as my daily driver. Fuel econo....what? I average around 11mpg daily driving. Maybe 15mpg highway, and I don't even want to know when I stomp on it. My license plate says GON_ECO (going eco, or gone Eco).

Did the factory engine not have more power and tq? I assume you must not have had a 2500HD Diesel if you did this swap.

If it was a 5.3 like my dad's 1500 (although I doubt his did) it really doesn't. I drove it to PA a few weeks ago to fix my brother's laptop and that thing actually felt underpowered. Even at WOT on Route 80 to keep a pace that thing was going nowhere.

But anyway, welcome! And +1 on the clean build and truck

Factory is: 360/380 at the engine. I'm putting down ~50 more to the wheels. No, I have a 6.0 gas 2500HD. It's the same engine as the H2, and essentially the same as the CTS-V, with some variances. I saw a leak from GM that the '17 diesel is going to be 445hp/925trq

Thanks! It's actually the 6.0 non-flex fuel motor. When it was stock, it moved as expected. Once the 35" MT tires went on, it was sluggish. Now it's faster than before even with the 35's...and more power coming this fall.

haha I was just reading the same leak probably about he 17. That is an insane amount of power for sure. You should easily be able to get your new setup up to 600-700 in the truck no problem.

Yea it is...and that's untapped #'s. I think I could get closer to 6xx with pulley, injectors, and long tube headers.

440/925 in the new Ford SuperDuty, can't imagine that much torque

That's awesome but the squared out fenders always makes tires look small, we need MOAR tire.

Nice work man!

Sweet truck and nice work! I remember running a fast truck at the track in Houston about 6 years ago when my Vette was basically stock. He had a big grin as he was next to me for the 1st 2 gears and I was in disbelief. Then 3rd gear came and our facial reactions reversed.

GM doesn't get it. No one else does square wheel wells. I'd like to run 37's, but don't wanna have to do gears. I may lower it 1-1.5" so the gap isn't as huge.

I do most of the work myself, but I havetaken it to the local GM dealership on a couple occasions. They were like 'is it really supercharged', noticing the badge. Then they got the look. Priceless.

even though you figure that 98% of the cars that roll through there are OEM/Stock... it feels good to get the look because you know that their day was boring till you showed up...
