I’m going to check out the new 3-Series tonight

I signed up for info on this car way back last year in the development stage.
The local dealer has been calling and sending me info about the preview for weeks now.
I figured I’d make them happy and go take a look.

I told him flat out that I’m NOT looking for a 4-Door, but I guess they just want to get people looking at these new models.
I’ll try and pick him for Coupe and next Gen M3 info, but we probably know more then they do in that respect.

I’m curious what kind of comments they’ll have about MY car.

Any specific questions I should ask?

I drove one and spent some time checking it out about 2 weeks ago. My post is in here somewhere.

They are nicer then in the pics...but for the money there is better and more fun available. But I only drove the 325, so that makes some difference as well.

It looks like a very nice car, not cheap thus it keeps the rif-raf away. Don't hate what you don't know. It drives and handles very different than the acura.

Let us know how the interior feels/ looks. IMO BMW's look hot on the outside but I have never cared for the feel or look of the interior. Take some pics if you can.

Not necessarily. I really think they just charge a premium.

or the fact that you get 4yrs/50K of maintenance. that's certainly added into the sticker price.

price is markup...built in maintenance, difference in the Euro vs the dollar.

The interior is not bad...much better then the new 5 series.

I just found the 325 very boring overall. the girlfriend loved it...go figure.

www.m3forum.com has just about all the rumors and stories about the next gen m3 you can want (theres even a sub forum dedicated to the bs)

No, I won’t be taking any pictures. There are plenty available online of stock BMW’s.
I’m mainly there to see how things have changed from the current 3-Series.

The chance of me getting an M3 next year are looking less and less likely.
I can get a fully loaded C6 Vette for 50-52K.
The current E46 M3 already costs more then that when nicely equipped.
If they add a V8 to it and other goodies, it will probably be selling for 60+.

Yeah I hate the stretched out horizontal display.

I did see a new 330i and it was pretty nice. Oh ask how much heat the leather can take for when the engine catches fire.

actually, BMW does a good job of kissing/wiping their customers ass. Kinda makes ownership fun.

just build a 330 on the website.

you cud price that fucker over 50k. sorry, but i would NEVER pay that much for a little 3 series. even with a couple almost-necessary options, such as navi, youre already basically breaking the 40k range... what a rip

maybe its always been like this with the 330s, not just the 06... idk

Shawn,

I'm in the same boat as you, I'd like to see how the new 3-series looks, from what i'm told it will be next year before the coupe comes out....

In the mean time, i borrowed a CLK 500 from the local merc dealer, was allowed to drive it for 24hrs, Car had 13miles on the clock, returned it with 175 miles lol ...

I felt the car from the inside, did not give me the "feel" i was driving a $60,000 car, looked cheap in the back. Handling 100%, Power/acceleration all i can say is wow lol, but too temping to race, i'll end up either dead or in jail. I was able to get it to 130mph felt like driving at 60mph lol ..

I actually have one on order as of last week. I can't wait, currently the order for one is about 2 months for a manual in my area. The car handles very nicely in the test drive, the 50/50 weight and the new design makes the run flats feel very nice. I can just imagine the beast it can be with some mods. The interior is very nice and the car is just hot. The car does look much better in person than in the pictures.

I prefer the older CLK 430. IMO looks and feels nicer.

Saw the new 3-Series….Drove a 330i Auto.
It was OK, but certainly not impressive enough to buy.

I caught a glimpse of a black 6-Speed 645Ci sitting in the “previously owned” section.
Guy got divorced and had to turn in the lease after only 6-Months.
I took it for a spin.
Long story short. They offered me 23,000 for the CL-S and I’m picking up the 645 tomorrow.
Details later…… G-Night
