How much should I offer for this Lexus?

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/car/413349120.html

What do you guys think I should offer the person? You think $7000-7500 would be fair?

lol i have no idea wtf i want!

one day i'm thinking to just spend 3k and get a miata since it's cheap, fun, and a convertible and stick it out for a few years until i save up enough cash.

the next day i'm thinking just get a 5-8k civic or accord, cheap, reliable, good resale, somewhat fun?

and now i've been looking for 98+ ES300s as a good cruiser. i'll upgrade the sound system, and maybe add some suspension parts so that it'll be a better handling boat.

Really though i'm lost. Help me! What car do you suggest thats fun Crazy Sellout?

It all depends to what you want really! I see that you're 17 years old, so I think that a es should be great for a 1st car. It's less ''fun'' than say a Miata, but it's safer, roomy, stylish and better for colder temperatures. That actually does look like a great deal but If you could get him to go lower it'd be great. Go as low as you can and negotiate vigorously(take dad or mom if you have to) if you want it, since most owners tend to make profits off of first time buyers.I say something like 7100 but depending on your budget 7500 seems like a reasonable price. I wouldn't worry about the high mileage much since Lexus-Toyota is known for their bulletproof reliability(Make sure to verify all infos and run background checks). Keep us updated and good luck with your choice.Just my

I only sack ride Infiniti's that are post 2005 =D but I still got love for the I35

ES is better than the I no?

Nokia thanks for the advice. I'll shoot the seller an offer of 7k, and will go up to 7700.

I consider the I35 to be a maxima which i think is sportier than the ES300.

Go make a list and drive them all!

Hey I've never done this before. How do I make an offer?

"Hi, I'm willing to offer you 7000 dollars for your ES300?"

is there a better way to compose an offer? that doesn't really sound professional to me. Also how do I let him know that I'm willing to bump the price up a little.

The I35 is too big, and it has the VQ35 which is a thirsty mofo!

Shoofin, you deal cars right? What do you think would be a good price for that car? I think 7k would be a great price, but somehow I doubt the seller would go that cheap.

Also does anyone know a good way to compose an offer email?

Go look at the car first, drive it... then make him an offer in person.

He will take you more seriously then.

I hate the current version the most. At least the last model had a nice interior, I don't like the new one's at all. But what gets me is the exterior...it's as if Lexus didn't even try, and yet that thing is selling so well!

Yes, i'm in the business. The wholesale value of the car is about $6,800. You can try to steal it for between 7 to 7500, but I don't think the owner will go less than 8. Either way, as long as the car is in great shape, $8,000 isn't too bad either, IMHO. I don't know if I'd spend 8500 unless it's a real "creampuff".

How about this, I email him saying I'll offer 7k, but if I go there and check it out and it's nice i'll have some more room to go up.

That'll help him to take you seriously

Honestly, what is it with people hiding behind the computer these days? Call him up, meet him somewhere public (bring a friend/family member or mechanic), look at the car, drive the car, and make him an offer. Otherwise you're just another e-tire kicker...

i knwo it's a glorified camry, but some of the generations i do like and was actually considering before the TL...as far as quiet unassuming FWD sedans go....but obviously the TL won that one...lol...nothing wrong with them mechanically though, i mean you can't go wrong reliability wise with a camry that happens to have an "L" on the hood...
