Question How Much $$ Have You Spent Modding Your Car?

I started a thread like this a few years ago in 2G TL. Most people were completely surprised when they added it all up.

So, how much do you figure you've spent in mods over the years, or even just on your current car?

probably about 500 bucks on my current car. I just have the Doms unit, a dice ipod thing and p2r spacer. nothing big. I'm to cheap to get into modding, and it does not make any financial sense.

I can't really compete against some of our members, but I spent about $6500-7000.

just my current car....

$150 for tail lights
if you count the roof rack as a mod........that's another $100
and if you count audio equipment that is in my closet but meant for a car of some sort..... $1500

I would take me forever to calculate how much I spent on all my cars in the past though. It was almost all audio crap, but I bought and sold so much stuff that I don't even think I could calculate it if I wanted to.

As I've gotten older I've started spending money on other things. Just $200 on my current car for window tint.

I think I added it up one day. Over $10K. Although most of the mods are gone now.

Do not really want to calculate as I am sure it exceeds the value of the car.

$6500

$9500 if you count rebuilding the current transmission with LSD, etc etc

I could have spent A LOT more, but I usually snag deals on stuff. Paint and rimz and tires were the most expensive.

There was a thread like this sometime in the last year, on RL somewhere, but I'm happy to bite again...

On my RL....
$2000 shipped for A-Spec suspension and wheels + $540 for Toyo Proxes 4 + $350+ for install/alignment=$2890

$700 for 5zigen exhaust + $290 for AEM intake + $100 to install=$1090

$299 for tint

$600 for clear bra

$697 for rear camera install at dealer
-------
$5576=total

Hearing that rich, gorgeous exhaust note, enjoying sticky tires, tons sharper handling, and classy looks of my RL=Priceless My RL....Sleeping Beauty....

I know that doesn't compare to what others have spent.

On my S2000:
2-way alarm, iPod/satellite hookup....around $600 total installed.
No plans for other mods!

We need a poll in this thread.

We had one of these thread in 3G a long time ago...I'm at just over $8,500 now if you count everything, some of which is just sitting around the house as opposed to being on the car ...speaking of which, somebody buy my wheels

My investment on mods for my CL was about $6K. And there was about $4K in the car when I got it.

I got most of the money back when I sold the car and parted it out.

I put in about $5K into my Maxima and got back about $1000 on selling stereo parts when I parted it out years ago. The performance mods were sold with the car and used for about 100K miles.

I have no plans to mod my I35 or Pathfinder.

Zero... 5 1/2 years of ownership and 75K miles....

I've bought tires and an K&N filter, which should be considered regular maintenance.

Since March 4th, 2004, I've spent $6823.94.

Yes I have Excel sheets showing all receipts for things I've done to my car. That is EVERYTHING, including maintenance, tires, rims, mods, suspension, parts, etc.

I feel too guilty to waste the money on mods.

seems we have the same illness cause i probably spent equal to what I spent the first three years in the last 6 months. I don't know if I could leave a car stock but somehow so far my DD has staid stock.

...so far. Comptech went tits-up just when I was thinking about the RSB (and no, I don't want the Progressive RSB).

Otherwise, I don't think I would do much to change the car if I keep it though, since I'm pretty happy with it and don't need to make it louder, heavier or lighter.

Exhaust :: $800
Painted grill + inserts :: $250
Grill itself :: $50
Wheels + tires :: $1300
2 CAI's, AEM and Injen :: $400

So, almost $3000 altogether.

About $900 on my current car

I don't even want to think about all of my past cars, it would probably be in the neighborhood of $30-40k+ what a waste to think about.

When did maint. = modding And there is no way you spent $7G on that Accord you posted, it looks completely stock.
