I thought this was going to be a joke.
But you should learn about MAF sensors, window regulator failures, brake caliper failures, electric gremlins, incredibly expensive maintenance costs and multiple cylinder mis-fires(and all other OBDII codes that will come up). The piece of mind owning a VW is that over at Vortex, there will be an army of fellow enthusiasts who will give you a hand job everytime something breaks(and it will), they'll tell you that ALL cars do that. The sad truth is it couldn't be further from reality. I previously owned 3 VW's(2 of which were bought new in 2001) and that was enough for me to learn my lesson.
I do get a kick out of how VW people worship these cars! They are so delusional, and think you must have all of the problems with a fairly new car, and that its worth the "experience". I've since switched from VW to honda's and could NOT be happier, it seems honda builds the car's VW can only dream of. Oh but a honda is just an "appliance", and what is a VW? Hecho en mexico, problematic appliance, with poor dealer support and low residual value.
Rant over.

Well, i got a zero deductible extended warranty for 40,000 miles (its at 70 right now, so i guess that takes it to 110). Still, its a pain in the ass to take shit to the shop....hope i'm one of the lucky ones
for the record, what is MAF sensor?
I started out with VWs, 65 bug and a 73 Squareback. Honda's original approach was very similar to the VW, keep it simple, and user friendly. They are everywhere with the UT students here. Nobody sees the Consumer report ratings on VWs?? I guess for a German car they are lower priced and that is the appeal. I have a very low tolerance for car repairs, thus have driven Honda products for the last 5 cars.
Good luck with yours.
