Okay I used to have a 3.2 TL and it got totaled. I got a loan for a 350z from a private party like 3 months ago and FINANCED it with a credit union. Its on my name but I don't have title in hand since the car isn't paid off yet. I don't want the 350Z anymore and wanted to post it on craigslist. How would I do this? Would I have to get someone to takeover my payments or someone to get a loan and pay the credit union for me to take over the car?

 

What the fuck? You can't have someone just take over your payments on a loan. If they default, you're fucked. They have to obtain their own financing and pay off the balance of your car loan. After this is done, your financing company sends you the title and you sign it over to the buyer at a notary public.

 

Talk to the people at the credit union... They've done this before. You're not the first person to sell a car that hasn't been paid off yet.

But, it's basically like Zeroday said... The Buyer pays the car off, and the bank sends them the title...

You can also do it through a dealership. They will handle paying off your existing loan and roll the balance over to your new loan.

So if you owe $25K on you 350Z and you get $20K on a trade for it, then the loan for the car you purchase will be $5K more.

 

Buyer pays you, you pay off the loan, receive title, sign over title, go get yourself a new ride and in debt again.
