Meh, anyone can drive well on a road circuit after repeated laps. I think the drivers with the best skills are Rally Car Racers who traverse off-tarmac.

I agree with this. Once you've become accustomed to a track (and have some degree of skill, common sense, and judgment), you can keep going around and around without much issue, unless something breaks or you do make a mistake somewhere. I'm not a pro race driver or anything but I do have a good number of no-incident laps under my belt (Gingerman Raceway, Road America).

edit: hmm I am not sure "anyone" can do it though... I think some people intrinsically suck at it and should stay off the racetrack..

Car looked pretty twitchy, the big twirls of the wheel that guy was making were almost all big mid-corner corrections. A fast drive, but not easy.

If you had no racing experience, it would take you an entire year of practice lapping to be able to do that.

That's assuming you have the skill to be able to drive like that in the first place.

Allow myself to clarify. Anyone with a modicum of driving skill, not any nanny off the street.

Do I have loads o' track experience like phil? But, I've enough to know that I prefer prefer open-road rallying to closed-circuit racing. That's where you separate the men from the boys.

This sounds like a basketball vs. football vs. soccer vs. hockey conversation.

Trying to convince someone one way or the other will get you nowhere, really.... with that said that was some pretty good driving

rally cars do pre staging and have notes to go off of. Have you ever witness a rally car that got the wrong notes for a section...NOT PRETTY.

I love rally racing and road course racing both equally! I HATE nascar.

What kind of car is that? Its a mid-engined something, considering the attitude of the car through corners and on corner exit. I hear wastegates chuffing away though.....so turbocharged?
