Thumbs up Horray, I got my truck finally :D (pics)

Well... On tuesday I picked up my truck(finally), it cost me a nice 5K, 2 less than the KBB private party value, but 5K nonetheless. So now I have something to get my halloween supplies with... But NO money for halloween supplies.

Anyway, here are the stats:
1996 GMC Sierra K1500 Z71 SLE Extended Cab Flareside 350(5.7L) V8. It had 150K on the clock, but the engine was replaced under factory warrenty as it had a defect 86K Ago and the shop said it is running like new, the Transmission was also rebuild 30K ago.

Anywho, I will probably be spending most of my money on this for the time being, As soon as I made my last 300 Bucks I had my mother meet me half way on the price of a Magellan Roadmate 760 with Hardwiring and Traffic kit(600 bucks total from amazone including the 3 year warrenty, much less than the 1200+ asking price, my grandparents paid 900 for just the nav system, half of on amazon)

Anywho, here are the pics, so far I have only had a chance to shampoo the interior and do a quick rinse to the outside. Claying and waxing will come next.

BTW, Im getting better mileage than my mothers minivan with my big V8(I assume it is because in order to get that 3.3 to move the minivan you have to floor it).

I have a HUGE list of things to buy for it. I just ordered the most neccesary of them(well, not counting the boxes of parts I have building up(small stuff, stabilizer links, sway bar bushings, axle seals(still gotta pick em up from NAPA), a Roadmate 760 with traffic kit and permanent hardwire kit with external antenna, 3 year warrenty included, 600 on amazon(mommy met me half way as until she gets herself a new car, she will use the navi on occasion).

This weekend I would like to detail it though. I need some more clay and wax, I was going to get a polisher but I am dirt poor right now.

Thanks

About the exhuast, If I were going to get an exhaust I would want a true dual system with headers. Factory headers are and they are starting to bend around where the donut is, making it neccesary to constantly replace teh donut to prevent the ping of a leak. Anyway, I would just want a system compatible with any headers I get. I would also prefer True Dual.

Nice! There's a ton of things you can do to it, just don't go overboard and spend much more than it's worth, you'll never make it up when the time comes for you to want to re-sell it. BTW, the truck has exhaust manifolds on it now, no headers....You have a large variety of headers to choose from...good luck!

Sorry, mixed up my wording. So an exhaust manifold would be anything that progressivly dumps down the line? I didn't/don't want to spend more than it is worth, but I figure there has to be some better fire pit to throw my money into than halloween(I spent like 1-2K last year on materials for props and animatronics).

No radar detector yet... If anything I would probably go with an X50, and it would mainly be used on the TL. The truck is fast(its actually quite surprising), but I think if I keep driving it like I have been for the past 2 days I am going to throw a rod.

I just spent about 6 hours washing, claying, washing, and waxing the truck with my friend. We finished as it was getting to dark to take any good pics. I will take some more tommorow(If I don't get back too late, or before I go out). IMO, it looks pretty damn good for a 10 year old truck.

Yeah, that really does look sharp for a 10 year old truck. Congrats!

I'd toss the plastic bed liner and get a spray-in one myself.

A spray in bed liner is definatly on the list, however, this will do for now as I have quite a list of other priorities.

Anyway, I did the axle seals with some friends the other day, here are pics:

The rust that is there isn't very deep at all, it can all be sanded off. We will be coating the frame with POR 15 soon unless you guys can recomend something else.

nice truck. I love seeing people work on their cars. It just brings me back to the old days of hanging with grandpa and dad.

No problem. I am running out in a few minutes to go pick up some POR 15. I'd like to get the entire frame sealed up by the end of the weekend.
