Honda / acura retarded engineering thread
Starting this thread to list most retarded design flaws. Let's keep it simple . Transmission is kind of a complex device) but let's list things that are hard to screw up even if u are retarded and yet ingenious honda engineers manage to do just that
1) honda pin connections. Designed to be used one time. I have never remove one in one piece. Most in their right mind will use a threaded plastic bolt that will widen the pin when it's inside. Yet honda used some metal plate Thst basically guarantees that u buy new from dealer. Solution buy in autozone, advance auto or some other placed threaded reusable pins.
2) stabilizer bar links. Require quite a bit of torque. Hondas design. Is that u have to insert 6mm allen wrench into the stud and use 17mm wrench to loosen the bolt. 90% of the time alen wrench can't hold the stud. Basically u round off the hole.. AND by doing so u widen the stud.. so you can't remove the bolt .need to drill it out or use grinder. Most half minded engineers would never have a 6mm allen wrench hold 30-40ft lbs torque. Retarded. Second pic shows machined stud to accommodate a 19mm wrench.
3) removing rear cylinder head.. I have never ever in my life unbolted that much shet and removed so many brackets. I have few buckets of bolts.
Here is one bracket that u can't unbolt without removing cam shaft pulley. Hondas pins and brackets often seaze. No way to remove those two connectors without braking things. Had to unbolt crank shaft electronics. And another sensor. To lift rear cylinder head.
I mean how retarded is this? A bracket bolt that u can't unscrew without ripping half the engone
4) pin connector in alternator. Again a connector that had to be very carefully pried off in order not to break in pieces. Had to remove alternator to do that. If u just pull the pin.. it breaks in pieces. And who knows where those plastic pieces will end up inside alternator. May jam it
Hole shown on pic.. retarded
This is a 2009 odyssey v6 j35.. older hondas were a breeze to work on. But now japs are trying to be European. . Shortest distance between two points is not a straight line.. it's a long maze. . That's the newly adopted phylosophy ..
Seems like j35 is meant to be ripped out with a crane out of the engine bay.. not serviceable.
Post more simple hick ups by honda so others would know ahead

its too late.. like divorcing at 65. No alternative handling wise. I like cornering on odyssey much more so than on sienna.. Yea I know it's a minivan. But I get an erection every time a Mercedes or bimmer is left behind on high way exits/loops. I mean they really think that just having a merc or bmw will help them keep up with Japanese minivan.
It has rl 2006 heads and cams on it. Stainless steel cat delete tomorrow. Well see how it drives.
Point was there are idiots working even at honda.. they are everywhere. . Epidemic.
Ill call honda tomorrow to see if they are hiring.

Have you worked on any BMWs or Audis? From the mid-90s and on, Hondas and Toyotas, are some of the easiest cars to work on.
Also, do you live in the snow belt?

Yes there are idiots everywhere but are some of the issues just yours? Other than the endlinks i havent had any of your issues, and there isnt a bolt on the car i havent removed. (especially if you compare them to other manufacturers) Go buy Moog Endlinks. They have a spot for a box wrench to hold the shaft from turning when removing the nut.

Bad, good , excellent mechanic, making a mistake is still very irrelevant in this thread. It's about knowingly designing compoments that will break or become useless during removal.
Hey man
. U start threads about buyING dishwashers. Hahahahaha.. shet.. have good one . Go wash some dishes

Everyone makes mistakes. U sound very young like 15-18.. And mostly gain experience from reading online and watching videos as opposed to doing things yourself. From Reading your posts you are here to hang out.. chat around with pop corn.nothing of essence in your posts.

It's relevant because you made it so:
You called Honda a bunch of idiots. I merely introduced the pot to the kettle. I know you're probably not used to people calling you out for making mistakes. We all do, we're all human. And Honda won't hire people that over-torque head bolts, I already asked on your behalf

I know you're frustrated with your little project and are using this site to vent as you're welcome to but you'll have a lot better time here if you stop taking everything so seriously.

No u got it all wrong boi. I think honda and Japanese in general are much more diligent and get things to work well. . Everything I own Is made in japan or designed.
But even at honda there is a Chance that someone like you is hired and designs things mentioned in first post.

For a guy that thinks someone else sounds 'very young'. You sure are the one sounding like the immature kid throwing schoolyard taunts and threats Keep it up
Again.. pot, kettle, black.

What's wrong with asking questions to make an informed purchase decision. A dishwasher is something you're going to have for at least a few years and probably use daily.

I have girl friends to wash dishes.. and make informed decisions about buying dishwashers. Only someone who had eaten off the floor would have an idea about eating from the floor.. too extreme of an idea for someone like me

Why am I reading about dishes? Did Honda start making dishwashers now? Why are we getting personal over dishes?
Honestly, if you work on a car in the rust belt, something WILL frustrate you eventually, especially when working on suspension. Issue 1 with sway bar links, Toyota designs their sway bar links the same way. Issue 2, Toyota clips are designed the same way too in my experience. That's my before this thread probably gets locked...

OP has an almost 10 year old minivan with rust ... it's to be expected.
