James Bond's 1964 Aston Martin DB5, used in the films Goldfinger and Thunderball, sold this evening. The seller bought the car in 1969 for $12 000 and it was hammered down a few hours ago for 4.6 million American dollars to an American collector. I always loved that car, and thought it to be one of the most iconic movie cars of all time.

The new owner claims that this evening he's going to fire it up and drive it around the streets of London. Damn, can you imagine? The fabled Five running around the dark streets of London in the rain. I'd kill to experience that.

 

I wonder what the insured value is, probably a crazy amount.

I'm no AM aficionado but I always thought the DB5's were pretty cool. It's a sweet looking car even by today's standards.

 

Interesting that it sold for under the estimated $5 million US. Still an incredible amount for an incredible car.
