Live in a suburb. I use them whenever I can. We have several roads out here that have fairly regular traffic at night, but don't have streetlights at all. If it's really late, I'll usually turn them on, otherwise, it's usually just a hassle to flip back and forth. Also on the couple mile road the goes towards my house I usually have them on as it's not uncommon for deer or other critters to cross the road.

I voted "Whenever I can"

one time I was driving down a road late at night. Turned on my highbeams, and it lit up a skateboarder in the middle of the street in front of me. It was like he came out of nowhere. I don't know why he was in the middle of the street at like midnight, but that scared me. I was glad i turned them on.

I put HIDs in my old car, and after that I NEVER used my highbeams. Maybe I was blinding people, but I never got flashed either.
I can't help it!

I've always said once you go HIDS, you don't go back. I've been behind the seats of cars with HIDS (unfortunately I did not own them) and boy did it suck getting back into my car.

When I am on badly/poorly lit roads, or driving at night on an interstate when it is safe for me (and other drivers).

I'm with you on that.

One of my friend trash talk them everytime he rides in my car saying "Oh those things are so blinding, blah blah blah" and he has a truck that sits up fairly high too.

....deep down, I think he wishes he had 'em too.

I can't stand people complaining about HIDS. I would read on the TSX forums about people high beaming oncoming TSXs and when I see a TSX at night, I have never found the lights to be blinding. They're bright yes, but not to the point where you're seeing stars and spots a minute after they hit your eyes.

Trucks and SUVs are much more blinding to me than HIDs. I always say I can never go back to a car with halogens now. HIDs are just so much better.

Then, there was one of the new model Escalade's with the HID's that dared to high beam me when their HID's were right at my eye level.

Problem is that the morons who complain about HIDs are the morons who are blinded by them b/c they are staring directly into them.

"Ohh... look at the pretty white/blue headlight coming towards us. Crap, now I'm blinded by the light. Damn HIDs."

Well that's the problem. They are pretty cool looking... and morons like colors and lights... so they're almost drawn right into the beam thus blinding themselves while driving.

^ Don't worry, I am too. If we're out shopping or something and a store has some shit in the window that blinks and makes noise... I'm going in to check it out . It's a guy thing.

The morons are the one's who stare directly at the lights then complain they're blinded.

with HID lows and HID fogs theres little need for highbeams.

i'm thinking about putting some crazy bulbs in there just for looks.
anyone have any suggestions? like red or green HIDs. I would never actually use them on the road...

I always stare at HID headlights just to see what kind of car it is. Its like an identifier for cool cars for the most part.....
