High Beams?

Who here uses their high beams? I've talked to some people who never use theirs and see others who seem to believe that they are to be used all the time. Personally, I usually use mine on un-lit country roads where animals frequently cross the road. I always dim for oncoming traffic.

i don't even remember the last time I turned mine on, but I rarely drive on dimly lit roads.

I think in my old neighborhood, w/ my old car, I'd use them more often. Not sure if it's cause my old headlights sucked more, or if my old neighborhood was just darker.

I use them on dark roads but I turn them off if there's oncoming traffic. I HATE people that leave them on no matter what!! Those a-holes should have their lights shot out! I always seem to run across these inconsiderate dumbasses. I flash them and they don't turn them off so I turn mine on. Then they flash me! I leave them on and give them a taste of their own medicine. /rant.

I live out in deer country. Therefore, I use them quite often.

I use high beams on dark roads with little traffic, but that occurs rarely since I live in a big metro area and do not venture onto dark, little-traveled roads very much at all.

When driving on dark roads, I also turn on the fog lights as well- haven't hit an animal on those roads yet.

I live in the city, use them very rarely.

note : it sucks having a lowered car because when a truck or fullsize SUV gets behind you and their headlights hit your mirrors :ibblinded: 5%tint ftw...

I use them pretty much whenever I can... The light output on my Taurus is lackluster so high beams are necessary where there is no other lighting... I always dim them for oncoming traffic...

I only use them when necessary. I absolutely hate it when people have a low beam bulb out and think it is OK to just turn on the high beams and leave them on.

I live in deer country and it's dark out here, so yes, I use my high beams a lot. But I always turn them off when there's another car around. I can't stand when assholes leave them on. I've had people leave them on while driving behind me - it's like they think it's ok since there's no one coming from the other direction, and there's no way you can flash them or anything to let them know the light is bothering you.

We have a lot of rabbits in our neihborhood so when i come home in the evening, I turn them on because they respond to the light and run. When I drove up using my low beams, they wouldn't see the light until I was near and then run in front of my car (stupid rabbits), so by using the high beams they see the light sooner and run to safety earlier.

I'm more out in the country so I use them quite a bit. Of course I dim when on-coming traffic is within range.

If I'm in and around the city... no need b/c it's well lit.

Stupid deer are downright suicidal, and there are way too many around my area. My boss hit 2 last year in a span of just a few months.

I'd use them more, but on most newer cars they are too hard to use AND keep two hands on the wheel.

Was easier when it was Pull to click and lock/Pull to release. But now, most cars, are pull to hold and Push to click and lock/Pull to release. So to keep them on, then click them off, the reach is greater, which requires you to not be as easlily able to keep both hands on the wheel.

Why both hands on the wheel? Because on those dark country roads, I'm usually hauling ass - well, maybe not "hauling ass", but 60 - 65 mph. On a two lane road at 60-ish, I want both hands on the wheel.

Honestly, the old-fashioned foot-clikcer was the best setup for the driver in most "normal" situation.

It's well known that rabbits (and I suspect squirrels) are suicidal.

The combo of my factory 4300 headlights, and 4300k hid fogs are more than enough for me. If it's very dark and I want a glimpse of whats ahead I'll put them on. I never leave them on. More of a flash here and there. I use Sylvania Silverstars for my highbeams.

i think he's a fob, so I let it go.

one time I was driving down a road late at night. Turned on my highbeams, and it lit up a skateboarder in the middle of the street in front of me. It was like he came out of nowhere. I don't know why he was in the middle of the street at like midnight, but that scared me. I was glad i turned them on.

I put HIDs in my old car, and after that I NEVER used my highbeams. Maybe I was blinding people, but I never got flashed either.
