help me choose a car
I am looking to garage my 3G TL for winter (except when I need to show off/travel). What is a nice car between $3-5k that would be nice/last for at least 5 years without ALOT of maintenence?
I dont have alot of requirements. I'd like to buy an integra but I don't know if that is possible with that small amount of cash. Anyone think I could find something without 97978907979079078 miles on it? Any other suggestions?

camry or accord but they're both gonna have some miles on them, you kinda can't say last 5 years, not have high mileage, and be in that price range all at the same time. somethings gotta give.

That was uncalled for...
Ford Taurus SHO, except if maintnence isnt done, be ready to pay out of your a$$ for the repairs that need to be done, you can oick one up for 3500-4500 in great shape....

For 3k, I just bought a 97 Jetta with leather and only 52k on the clock. Car runs great depsite people saying they are unreliable. I just drove to and from Delaware this weekend one 1.5 tanks of gas. Gets really good mileage and looks better than a civic IMO.
Oh, and for $3-5k, you can get a jetta or gti vr6 5spd which are a blast to drive.

You should be able to find a mid 90s Integra LS for that amount (private party). I would even look into a Civic Hatch. I've always wanted to purchase a Civic Hatch to beat on.

Four years ago, post bodywork repairs after a couple of not-my-fault small accidents, my then 10 year old Civic Si was looking so good I thought I'd keep it, for the kids, who would soon be learning to drive. Unfortunately, the car failed it's emissions test.
For $2000Cdn installed (then $1300US), excluding taxes, I had a shop that brings "low-mileage" Honda engines and transmisisons over from Japan, and install same, plus a new clutch, and new exhaust (keeping my aftermarket exhaust header and catalytic converter). It took them 1 day to make the swap, and they already had several engines/transmissions in stock.
So, consider a clapped out Honda Civic with an OK body, a car that was capable, with a few mods, of passing M3's, and many 325's on a racetrack, a Porsche Turbo (never had the chance to talk with that driver during the break)...

Ah, the original Civic engine lasted 150,000 really hard miles (did I mention that they were really hard miles), and still ran great, but smoked a bit. I kept the car for another 1.5 years, and 30,000 miles, before trading it for a car with an automatic transmission - which my daughter really, really, needed.

I bought a 96 Accord 2 door with 100K for $4000. The previous owner just had it tuned up and replaced the timing belt. Its black with gray leather (a few wear spots) all power.....I love it....and the Cobra only gets driven when its nice!

Its not like you have a Cobra like Nicky were its not smart to drive it in the winter. I don't get the point of buying a 30k family sedan not to use it all year.

my gf bought a 94 mazda mx6-ls for $500 (slight body damage) a while ago. Its pretty quick and has been quite reliable, albeit ugly. a nice, newer one could probably be had for ~3000 bucks. they have a pretty good community too. http://www.mx6.com

the type R was probably a type for 14 or 24000
if anything give the guy a call...i always use craigslist....found some killer deals and sold cars on that really easy...just make sure you check everything out first like condition, title, etc

Think older Nissans are great for the used car market - Hondas hold their value too well vs miles they have. The Nissan Altima was regarded as a reliable car 2001 and earlier- respectable power, comfort and looks...
