Seems like if you can afford a 06' TL at 18 you can pay your speeding ticket..

not so sure a lawyer will help-it may be in NYC that speeding tickets are not reduced to non-moving violations. Could be wrong but send in ticket, plead not guilty, show up, talk to prosecutor and take your punishment.

i love these kinds of threads... you speed and get caught... call the officer a penishead for doing his job... and try to find a way out of it... if you don't want to get caught speeding, its simple, don't speed...

It's not for the fine, it's for the points...

Definately get a lawyer.

Don't you know that's one of the biggest speed traps? Where was he? on the bottom of the ramp before the entrance of the tunnel?

No prosecutors in NY....It's you (and a lawyer if you choose to have one), the judge and the cop..

if its your first offense, you can plead guilty, go to court, pay the ticket, pay the court fee, and try to talk down the points.

if youre not up for paying for the fine and court fees, just pay your ticket online and stop speeding.

don't blame the cop because he was doing his job. anyway, why the hell were you doing 26 over the speed limit??

suck it up man. you obviously dont have enough experience driving anyways.

Contact a lawyer and see if he can help you. I'm not sure you can get it reduced to a non-moving violation, but they may reduce it so you get less points.

I'm a lawyer and can't believe I'm saying this but why do you need a lawyer for this ticket? You'll double your costs and may not get it reduced anyways. May still be an 1110(a) which is two points, moving violation. Better than orig ticket anyways.

I'll give you a story, and you tell me if I needed a lawyer. On the highway at 3am coming back from NYC going home. All cars on the parkway were going 80mph. Speed limit 50mph. Nobody passing each other, everyone following each other, minding their own business. No weaving, racing, nothing. I happen to be the car behind the cop car, who was also going 80mph. Eventually he changes lanes and slows down, in which I stay in the lane, but slow down, as does the car behind me, and him, and him, etc.... I pass the cop verrrrry slowly. After about a mile he pulls me over for speeding. I never admitted to speeding, but did tell him I was going with the flow, in which he then said he isn't the flow, he can do whatever he wants, and I can't follow him. Gave me a ticket. You think I won't fight that? You're wrong!
I fought the ticket and the police officer showed every piece of information to prove me speeding, I'm standing there shitting bricks, while my lawyer is jotting down information on his pad at a feverish pace. Of all the things the cop said to try to prove my speeding, he turned out to be qualified for clocking visually, but never said or was able to prove that he was qualified for reverse clocking (clocking my speed by looking thru his rear view mirror), along with a few other pieces of info he failed to mention to prove my speeding. I got off - Not Guilty. Sure it cost me $350 for the lawyer, but I didn't get the 6 points I would have gotten, nor did I pay the fines that might have been incurred.

This happened like 8yrs ago, btw..

The best way to fight the ticket is to get a lawyer. It will cost you a little more but you wont get any points on the insurance record. And if you dont win, then you dont pay the lawyer.

side question - Is your car the one with license plate "ebaygeek" - if so I've seen it around few times - nice car

but I have a question - where did you install the navtodvd?
