Help to choose my next car
Help to choose my next car
Hi Acura community, i'm new to this forum, i just recently sold my WRX, and decided to giva an Acura a try. I had 2004 accord before and it was solid car, that is as much as i'm familliar with honda stuff.
I narrowed down to 2choices for my car.
1. 2009-2010 acura rl
2.2009-2010 acura tl
Biggest debate to me right now is next.
i used to AWD alot and i live in high rockies, so it snows here like crazy, not sure how acura compares to subaru, but anyway.
I found couple of cars on craislist with sh-awd an tech package but the price is to high or mileage is to high.
And also theres two cars there that have around 50-55 K miles but no AWD and no Tech. The other two 2010 TL are AWD and Tech, but mileage is around 100 K and they ask for them 17-18 K too.
There are one TL with SH-awd and tech out there with 110K miles, timing belt , water pump, and all other required maintenance is done, and they ask for it 16K.
I'm confused what to get, and how reliable 100 k miles Acura would be.
RL's are extremely hard to come by, unless i settle for 2005-2008 models.
Please post your thoughts on what to buy and why.
My budget is around 18K

2009 Acura RL Type SH AWD Tech Package acura RL (if they go down do 18K)
There's no damn way I'd spend that much money for an RL with 110K on it. I did a quick search and I'd buy a few of these BMW's first all damn day
Used BMW Denver CO and Highlands Ranch,

If I wanted bmw I would have consider one , all my friends who had bmw said no more German made cars unless brand new and you sell it right before warranty expires. I was Subaru guy for last 5 years and time to try something nicer.

Considering where you live, you probably want the AWD.
That RL seems overpriced. The 09+ RL was a slow seller, which translates to few models on the used market.
Any reason why you won't consider an '08 RL?

Unfortunately the 2009-2011 TL is pretty ugly. What do you think of the looks?
I think I'd rather drive the RL if I had to choose between the two.
2009 Acura RL 3.7, $19,909 - Cars.com
2008 Acura RL 3.5, $16,999 - Cars.com
Any room in the budget? You'd have to up it to get in to a '12+ TL with SH-AWD, which I would think is worth it.
2012 Acura TL Technology, $24,995 - Cars.com
To be honest, I don't think you're going to have as much fun as you had in the Subaru. What year was your WRX? Any mods done?
If you do a search for AWD under $20k you can find some other options.
2008 Audi A6 3.2 quattro, $20,000 - Cars.com
Why not G37x?

2010 Ford Taurus SHO, $19,999 - Cars.com
If you really want to try Acura, I just think you're looking at the wrong model years. 2009 and 2010 were rough years.

Well I don't think TL ugly, I like it, I had 3 WRX"s in the past and they are fun cars to drive, but as far as comfort and quality TL is way better, I'm done with fast driving, I just want to have nice car that drives nice and fresher. If I could afford 2012 till I would buy it , for now I'm settled on 09 tl with 60 k miles , I looked all over Craigslist and cars.com and can't find one better for money , and if for some reason I don't like it I can always sell it and get something else . The price I'm getting TL is 16800 which fits my budget well and payments will be like 230$ per month. As far as value I think Acura is good choice. Anyways , I made my choice and will be getting my TL next week.
I drove FoRd fusion- nothing special
Audi is nice when it's new, than big bills on repairs
New Wrx is nice, but it's around 35$ fully loaded to Acura level
With snow tires TL should be fine, and as I said , I always can sell it with low mileage .

I had 05 Wrx, it was stage 2 and that's it, I wish that they made subarus interior with quality in mind, but it's all cheap plastic that rattles , performance wise Wrx is better but comfort and features wise TL is on top with no doubt.

Get the new WRX then, it's a brand new interior. The engine is very civilized too.
The cars themselves are fine, but Acura wasn't selling well during that time due to the controversial styling on the new TL

A lot of them end up this way.
Part of the time it turns into a debate, and part of the time it turns into a justification of purchasing a specific car.
Oh well, looking up cars is still fun.

To brag about getting such a stylish car.
It's usually like this when a new person makes a thread like this.
C'mon guys. Don't pick on th OP like this. He just asked an opinion. Whether he's comfortable with paying that much money for that car is entirely up to him. He may or may not have made up his mind already but that's not the point. He has looked around for all reasonable options for him and he likes Acura TL better than other choices. Or this discussion would have helped him to solidify the choice. Anyway whatever makes him happy would make us happy too. I too would have seriously considered his choice if I was in that situation. Congratulations and good luck with your Acura.
