Has anyone donated a car before?
I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX that has 207,000 miles on it. The car runs great but since I am moving away for a year and there are only two drivers in the house we really don't need the car. It hasn't been driven in about 6 months so we were thinking of donating it to charity. KBB estimates the car is worth about 1500 bucks (it has some damage from an accident to the rear trunk and bumper and the rear fenders are starting to rust a bit). If I donate this car to charity, how much can I expect to get as a tax write off?
P.S. This is the best car we have ever owned. It has never given us any problems and it was the simplest car to maintain (unlike the TL!). Even after 6 months of being idle, it started up on the first crank!

I was just doing some research on car donation and the tax write off you get with donating a car. The IRS changed the rules last year to limit the deductible amount to $500 unless your car gets more than that when sold at auction. This means that using a 33% tax bracket would mean that the total in pocket cash would be 165 bucks. Hardly seems worth it. It might be able to get more than that on ebay.
