Got my car chipped tonight

Well those that don't know, I do not own a 2001 Audi S4, not anymore. I had it when I started my account back in 01. I now have a 2002 Audi A6. Same color combo as the S4, Silver exterior, black interior. I got the 2.7t engine with a 6 speed manual tranny. After waiting almost 9 years to feel a 2.7t engine chipped, I finally got to tonight. All I can say is WOW. The car has TONS of torque. It went from 250hp/258 ft/lbs to ~318hp/382ft/lbs. In 5th on the highway, it has more power then I did in a 2nd gear pull.
Went with the APR software since they are having a 50% sale right now, and also got a set of APR R1 diverter valves so I don't leak any pressure. The sale allowed me to get the diverter valves, plus the cost of the programming and the installation of the valves for a few hundred less then the normal cost of just the software. Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but I am excited. Anyway, thanks for reading guys.

I'll post a couple pics when I go upstairs. Pics are on my external drive. Not sure if I have any of the engine bay. You really can't see anything cause of the cover, just looks stock. In fact, the whole car looks stock now. My rims were stolen back in December, and then recovered by the cops, but they haven't been released back to me yet. I'll post some pics with the stock rims and the stolen ones in a few minutes.

Yeah, it is a great engine. Just have to be careful with the maintenance. It is a BITCH to work on. I loved my S4, and when I was looking for a car, I was considering one, but wanted something bigger, so went with what is basically a bigger S4. Same engine and tranny.

Can't wait to take my gf for a ride. She HATED when I punched it when it was stock. She said it made her almost throw up. I won't go too hard on her, but she has no idea I chipped it, so it will be a major surprise

forgot I had some pics on my photobucket account:

stock:

With rims:

Really the only difference from how it looks now then in the pics with the stock rims is that I have a set of all weather rubber mats that say A6 on them.

Glad your rims got recovered at least. I remember that thread. House the new house? BTW, that's one hell of a sleeper in stock looking form there! Seriously can't believe how downtuned some engines are.

Believe it or not, we are still working on the house. We only work on the weekends, so its taking a while. It's coming along though.

The numbers are quoted from what the program should be putting out with everything else being stock. The diverter valves may have added a little, they are really designed to hold the boost rather then add power. But holding boost in essence adds power so I am not sure if they add to those numbers.

Nice. Always liked those semi-luxo A6's. Can you lower it a touch, or would it upset the steering / handling geometry?

Just have to save up for some coilovers. I want to lower it and probably would have done that before chipping if it weren't for this sale APR has going on.

Yeah, the APR tune on the 2.0t really wakes that engine up as well. My boss had a b7 that was chipped. He brought his car up to a little bit faster then my car was stock. He's gonna like driving my car now.

Well it is to the crank, not the wheels. However, still a big gain. I think stock the car is supposed to peak at about 9 psi. With the tune, it's supposed to peak somewhere around 17 psi.

Nice choice, my friend has a black on black '02 or '03 (i'm not sure, same generation as you) A6 2.7T with a Revo stage 1 chip upgrade and diverter valve upgrade. You may see him around CT, he's also got 18" mesh wheels, 6000K HID lows and fogs, and LED taillights.

Hopefully you won't get any CELs. After his chip upgrade he's been getting them intermittently.

What part of CT is he in? Would be cool to see the difference between the two programs.

Congrats on the reflash! Lemme ask you this, do you regret not doing it sooner? The reason I ask is because I have the money saved up to do it now and the deal they have going right now is practically too good to pass up, but I'm having a hard time deciding to go for it because i wanna save up for my bike.

Do you have any other plans for the ride? Are you gonna get it dynoed?

Hey Sly what car do you want to have chipped? APR has these sales a couple times a year and typically always during Waterfest (VDub/Audi car show). So you don't have to worry about it not coming around again.

I say save up for the bike. If you want to go fast, the experience from car to bike is drastically different and unique.

B7 Avant 2.0T 6spd.

I'm not buying the bike to go fast. From the experience from the recent classes I had, even just going along at moderate speed was fun for me. But wanting to have that experience sooner than later is why I'm having a hard time deciding.

I'm leaning more towards getting the car chipped because it's going to be a while before I can get a bike anyway.

Chip your Avant like you said its gonna be a while anyway and now is not the greatest time to get a bike, its cheaper to get one during fall/winter

If you don't, you're going to have to wait to get the reflash

If you have the money I suggest you do it. I don't regret it simply because I saved so much money. I just let my buddy drive it. He has a stage 2 STi and he simply said this car is real fast. He was very impressed. I would say with the sale, go ahead and do it.

My buddy's got a six-speed 2.7T Allroad that he wants to chip. Now that is the ultimate soccer-practice sleeper.

Yeah, the Allroad's are sweet. Does he have the vag tool so he can raise or lower the car through software? Definitely have him chip it. It's amazing.

Thanks. Yeah they are pretty hard to find. I drove down to Jersey about an hour and a half to look at a few, but didn't like what they had. I found one on ebay that didn't sell, so I emailed the seller and arranged to drive up to Mass to go look at it, was about a two hour drive. Loved the car so gave him the cash and drove it home.

I've got the same - well except its a Tip. Rocking two car seats in the back.lol

Hey S4- if you don't mind me asking, what was the chip cost? I am heading to get mine done on Saturday - but I have no idea if am getting a good deal or not- installed all in ~ $700 ish ( Cdn)- but does not include the diverter valves. There may be room to move on the price, but I have no frame of reference to what I should be paying

If you are getting the APR reflash it's a sale price that ends on the 10th:

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/news/#03092009

$599 for 4 programs + Fault code Erase + Security Lockout + Anti-Theft

It's a sick deal!

Cool, let us know what you think when you get it done. It's such an amazing difference in power.
