Got Back In Town to Find This...

Some young girl crashed into my car with her Benz. Luckily no one was in my car, and she just had a knot in her head. It's being towed to the body shop today, but it looks like it may be totaled. What do you guys think?

I really wanted this car to last another 3-5 years for me, but I think it's a goner this time.

She wouldn't have gotten far. I didn't get to see her car, but she moved mine 25 feet from where I parked it so I'm sure her car was in pretty bad shape also.

Glad you weren't hurt or in the car at the time. Did you catch the girl that did it? Get her insurance information?

That car does look bad, I'm sorry to say. Looks like it's borderline totaled. Might want to start shopping around for a new car.

Unfortunately, the damage looks pretty severe and will most likely be totalled. Glad no one was in it at the time.

The police officer left a data sheet on my windshield with her info so that part is squared away. Neighbors said she may have been drunk, but she reported reaching for something on the floor and not seeing my car.

Damage is pretty bad. Everything popped open inside the car (storage bins, sun visor...). The trunk passthrough was open also, and I can see the trunk floor almost at the top of the opening.

I'm just a bit miffed about recently getting new tires, a battery, and having all belts and hoses replaced. Oh well, if they total, hopefully they will give me a fair value for it.

Yeah, she's insured with State Farm also, and the claim was filed and approved under her policy.

Driving the 997S to work right now until I get a rental.

Looks like she was driving a telephone poll or a tree!

Kind of sucks that you just put money into it only to have it, probably, be totaled. If you have a good relationship with a car dealership you should talk to them about giving you a trade in value on the car prior to the accident, if the insurance company comes in low you can say "gee I was close to trading it in and dealership xyz had given me a quote for quite a bit more, sharpen your pencil's and see what you can do." They are probably going to try to come in low and make you go away, but there is no personal injury and an extra grand or two is nothing to an insurance company. Just remember it is negotiable up until you accept the check. Mentioning trading it in and having it in writing will probably be enough for you to come out of this OK. Good luck!

The other driver was lucky her vehicle didn't go underneath the CL!

I agree with everyone else here-- the CL will be totaled.
Now you can get a different car, save the money, or dump the money into something for the 997.

Oh, and I always park on my property when I leave town, rather than on the street- less likely to be ticketed for some reason by law enforcement or run into by morons.

That would definitely be a shock to come home to. Sorry to see that. I also would like to see the damage on the Benz. Hope you get fair value for it. Sucks you just put all that money into it.

was she texting or something?! get teen girls off the road.

hey, a motorcycle crashed into the back of me on the highway doing about 40-50mph...here was my damage, it added to $6,000 (fully covered for me). yours looks worse, might be totaled man. (and I still believe CL's are cursed. so many get into accidents, it probably after the owners cursed them over the tranny issues.)

That car is totaled, but hey, there is hope, my 01 CL-S with 150k miles on it was in a similar accident and it was $6,800 in damage and they actually fixed the car.

Here is my accident after getting rear ended by a Heineken truck.

Good luck

Haha, that's a low blow to us Clers.

I use mine as a travel car, I also have an 08TL and my modded CL beats my stock TL in every performance related category.

The TL does win on looks, comfort and refinement though.

ask your insurance company about the repairs you just preformed
my company will partially reimburse you if you had the work done in the last 6 months and have the receipts to prove it, (this is if infact they total it)
Good Luck

yep, guy didn't have insurance, so he hit and ran, but i got his liscence plate number before he left...and to make a long story short, his body shattered my window and he rolled over my car, landing in front of it. he was not all there when he drove away....

anyways, to not get off topic here, OP let us know what happens. good luck.

OP: as others have said, no one was hurt, so that's a good thing. And looking at just the pics, I have a feeling that the rear portion of the frame is a bit twisted (looks as if part of the benz was under the bumper, and it went up). That should total it.

Good luck with the insurance.

Well, it's totaled as we all expected. Car had 132K miles on it. I talked to insurance about by recent repairs, and they said that it's considered maintenance for the vehicle so they will not consider the repair/maintenance costs. Tires were surprisingly at 40% wear already to I get nothing for that either.

Time to look for another car now.
