Another snow day in the sunny south & the car sits in Greensboro

 

just sit in it, make vroom sounds and take/post pictures... the suspense is killing me.

 

Car is in Greensboro I live in Raleigh a bit over an hour away.

 

Snow today, Sun tomorrow, Snow Thursday, then 38*, 45*, 52* with 70* on Monday

 

Who was the lucky person that got to drive it from the paint shop to the dyno and run it on the dyno?

 

I have a JVC Adixxion camera (ditched GoPro 2 years ago). Happy to film with ya

 

One of Whitby's guys took it over & the dyno man set it up & ran the test. First dyno run I did not make myself in a very long time.

 

Just thee visual things to do when I get it home: Put on the knockoffs, swap the front/rear black quickjacks for polished stainless steel versions & swap out the modern standard sealed beam for the classic 1950's Lucas tri-lenses lights modified to take halogen bulbs.

 

We need more pics. Even if they're just quick cell phone pics.

Car is still in Greensboro & the weather + real life is not cooperating. Need a clear day & worse case is Friday.

This weekend is dead since my daughter borrowed the Expedition (tow vehicle) to go skiing & will not be back till Sunday night

 

Sitting on eggs shells. Have a trailer rented for Friday, weather sucks so far.

Are ya'll not getting any of this nice weather we have down here? It's supposed to be staying between 65 and 70ish for the next week or so. Hopefully ya'll get some of it to come your way.

are you going to wear special socks when driving that car? because it seems the exhaust could burn your ankle when you get out.

 

Weather here is bi-polar. Between 60 and 70 the next two days, then 40, then back into the 60s for the weekend.

 

I have polished stainless steel heat shields than go over the section under the doors. You still need to be careful but have 25+ years experience with another, now sold, car that did not have shields.

 

Supposed to be sunny, although a little cool (low 40's) on Friday. Weekend is supposed to be really nice.

Should be good towing weather

Brought my oldest daughter home from the maternity hospital in that car. Got hooked on cars as an early teen helping the older guys with their cars passing tools & stuff. Learned a lot about mechanics & it kept me out of the Infantry when I got drafted.

Tried to have at least one performance car ever since.

I hope and pray to be you when I get to be your age. Only I'll try to keep at least one or two performance cars from my...um.....middle age .

Dr. Bob-you need to keep the S2k. It will be worth millions. You need to sell the silly GM wagon to those of us waiting in line

 

Sorry but the GTO is long gone was replaced by the StingRay & a Country Squire, Family stuff had started to take over. Gave up sports car racing (TR3 A&B, Morgan+4 SS) in 1969 the year we bought our first house.

The last car before the big drought in new performance cars was a 1969 Firebird 350 HO. It was replaced by a Volvo station wagon.

During the new performance car drought the StingRay under went a number of engine changes, 1 trans rebuild & two rear end gear choices. Rear spring was swapped for a composition version.

Car was at Englishtown quite often since by that time I had moved to Centeral Jersey.

 

Pick the trailer up tomorrow morning @ 9:00AM. Feel like a 10 year old on Christmas Eve.
