Got this email today:
""The various weather services all call for the chance of rain on Saturday between 60-90%. Therefore, the January get together is postponed until 1/10 (if the weather cooperates). Stay tuned for a notice next week.
On another note, Bob Jones asked me to distribute his advertisement for selling his car, Ol Blue. Sadly, I am attaching his note to this email.
FOR SALE - FFR 2687 - $20,000
Reason: Been There Done That
We have owned this car since December 2003 acquiring it from the original owner and builder who drove it for 20 months & 4,200 miles after completion. The car was then taken to Whitby Motorcars who went through the car applying finishing touches to insure the car was properly completed, safe, and reliable.
My wife & I, and our adult age son, have used the car for road trips, fun rallys, mountain runs, and trips to the Dairy Queen. It has been conservatively adult driven, never raced nor abused, and has served us well by never stranding us throughout numerous road trips east of the Mississippi.
BODY & CHASSIS: MK I built in 2001 using a Tri-States Motorsports refurbished “Donor Pallet” with 33,000 miles. Titled & put on the road in May 2002 and has since accumulated 63,000 fun filled miles, meaning the drive train has 96,000 on it. All supporting build documents are available.
DRIVETRAIN: 1993 5.0 EFI Roller Engine, BBK SSI Intake Manifold, BBK Valve Covers, T-5 Five Speed Transmission, Traction Lock Differential – 3:55 Gear Ratio.
PAINT: Body – 2001 BMW Carbon Black Metallic (no stripes) by Dartmouth Collision, Dartmouth, MA, Black Powder Coated Roll Bar & Quick Jacks, High Temperature Flat Black Side Pipe Finish.
OPTIONS: Classic Gauges – Reverse Speedometer, In Dash Key & Electrical Control Switches, Flaming River – 15:1 Steering Rack, Rear Coil Over Shock Suspension, Five Lug Axle Conversion, 17” Compmotive, Halibrand Type Wheels, Z Rated Directional Tread Tires, Interior Heater, Wind Wings, Aluminum Clutch Quadrant & Firewall Adjuster, Whitby Alignment Blocks, & a Snapless Toneau Cover, trunk prop. (No hood hinge)
RECENTS: Air Filter, Fuel Filter, Tires, Brakes, Clutch Kit, Clutch Cable, Steel Transmission Bearing Retainer & Bearing.
RECORDS & SPARES: Included are all historical maintenance & repair parts records, magazines and the calendar the car appeared in, a 2012 Best of Show trophy, plus a lot of spare “get you home” road trip parts and supplies.
NOTES: The paint has been kept up using Dr. Colorchip kits, and the windshield has two professionally repaired chips in it. It starts every time, runs great, has no leaks, gets 22 mpg on the road, & still gets many stares, looks & thumbs ups. This daily driver car, which if respected and cared for, as it has been for the past 11 years, will give someone many miles of reliable fun.

^^^^^^
Its an early version MKI built around 2000 with all most 100K miles on it. Newer ones up through MKIV with less mileage will cost more but this is a very good car for the price. Some, built to a higher standard than mine, have gone for $60K+ at Mecum
With the FFR replicas most people can't tell the difference between the versions unless they are parked next to each other.

Agree, my next choice after red would have been gunmetal with black phantom stripes.

That is turning out GORGEOUS
On our next trip to Raleigh, I better get a ride!!!!
P.S. who did you buy your BMW from? Our Benz in Raleigh lease is up in about 6 months, and I want to replace it with a BMW or a Porsche lease. PM me please if you have a BMW contact.

They sprayed more clear coat last week. I thought the paint was done when the sent the pictures
Will have more later this week. They are clearing some open items I did not have tools for: 4 wheel alignment, final brake bleed, setting pinion angle, ride height settings, satellite aerial placement & windshield mounting.
I have all my docs including insurance cards so once I bring it back a guy comes to the house to inspect it. Then I can get a plate & title. Might have a shot at getting to to the Feb Cobra meeting.

Oh man, would love to be able to pick this up. Not sure the wife will allow any more toys though. Any ads online I so I can send the link to my wife?
Can't wait!! You'll need to get to one of the C&C meets in Charlotte with that bad boy. Wait until spring when we get hundreds of cars and fill up some huge lots!
Can't wait to see completed pics...

The investor class who buy the "real" ones have not taken to them. Kirkham Motorsports also builds aluminum versions at about $100K which sell pretty well.

Yeah that is what I have noticed.
At the last show in LA...the kit cobra guys were parked away from two of these "real deals". Pretty funny actually
Kinda like how the local 356/550 guys treat the Beck Spyders
