Going from an 03 CL-S to an 06-07 Accord Coupe a step down?

When my CL-S hits a 100k, I have to seriously think about getting rid of it, even though I dont want to. With the trans warranty about to expire at that point, I dont feel like dishing out 2-3k on a new trans.

Let me tell you first off, I am a 2dr guy only. I like to buy my cars brand new or at least with less then 5-10k miles on them.

Cars I like, but cant afford or dont want to spend extra $$ for
-G35C
-350Z
-330Ci

Cars I am not interested in
-GTO
-G6
-civic, cobalt, solara

How about an accord. I'm still kind of debating on whether I like the exterior or not. The led tails are cool, the front and rear lips for it are cool, but something just doesnt do it for me. I dont know if I've been spoiled with my CL enough to know I dont want my car to say Honda on it. lol

So do you guys think it would be a step down from the CL or no? I would plan on getting the lip kit, the fogs, the nav, etc.

no. An accord V6 coupe is a very nice car. The vehicle is reliable and looks good IMO.

I like them but it has to have the OEM kit on it other wise it's fugly and do yourself the favor and get a manual.

I don't think so at all. The AV6 is a beautiful car. Only thing you will probably miss are the xenon's but you could always add them later.

^Oh ya for sure man! I will never own a pair of regular halogens again. Going from HID to halogen is like 20/20 vision going blind. lol

my buddy has one, and i personally think the interior is nicer than our tl/cl. Better leather quality, and you get the cool guages. I would say they both have their tradeoffs, so neither one is really better than the other. Would you be modifying the accord or keeping it stock?

I would definately be throwing in an intake and headers. If the exhaust sounds on my CL sounds like it would on an Accord, then I would throw an axleback exhaust on there as well.

as long as you get the 6spd v6 acrd it shouldnt be really a step down given you get the OEM lip kit for it.. cuz yea... that lip kit does wonders to the car

The accord looks so similar to our cars now that it wouldn't even matter. I agree tho, you have to get it w/ the kit. I was jealous cuz our tails didn't have leds. Power is similar too. I wouldn't call it a step down. More like, oops I tripped! haha!

those three things, a drop, tint, HIDs, and I'm good to go. Who knows though. Just seeing what people right now think.

I think the Accord coupe is a solid car. I don't see it as a step down at all.

I own an 05' Accord coupe six speed which I purchased new nearly two years. I had never owned a Honda manufactured vehicle before, either under its own nameplate or Acura. My second choice was the TSX, but like you, preferred the looks and functionality(or lack thereof) of a coupe. At the time I didn't consider it to be a step down, nor do I feel it be after nearly two years. I find many people compliment me on the car and find it to be quite attractive. There seems to be quite a bit of aftermarket support for the car, so I would imagine you could easily customize to your own tastes.

I don't see it as a step up or step down... It's a lateral move IMHO...

You might be able to get into a used G35c or 330 coupe now that the 335 is out and the new G35c is due out soon

Thing about used is, #1 I hate buying used. #2, you might not see a G or a 330 with less then 10k miles for 30k (what I want to be around). If so, then I might start hunting.

No headers for the Accord V6.

fwiw, rumor has it that the Accord V6 is one of the few cars that will actually gain power if you use premium. It's 244 hp on 87 octane and allegedly picks up another 10hp on 91 octane.

New av6 for the win...if you can get that lip kit on there with some fogs, I'd definitely go down that route

i would consider it a slight step down and if you get the auto, you are not really getting away from the auto trans problems you will just have slightly longer time before they happen. There are already people with 7th gen AV6 with trans failures..........

I checked out a 06 AV6 and I thought the leather was of inferior quality to the CL type S

2003-2004 Accord's had the transmission problem. They fixed it from 2005 on.

Oh and I'm considering an Accord also. =D

I would not even consider making a statement like that until about 3 or 4 years from now.........

I just think the front of both the Accord sedan/coupe especially with those ugly shaped headlights makes it look fat and bloated. Other than that, I like the Accord coupe.

Maybe you could get the older body style 99-02 Accord coupe and do an engine swap. I prefer that styling over the current one.

Actually they didn't fix the problem till around 2005. I owned a CL-S and ditched it after several tranny replacements.

The only "fix" for this problem is a new 4 shaft 5spd auto transmission that is in use on some newer acuras and the accord hybrid...or Dr Evil

no i don't think it's a step down.

i think it's a great car. and i agree that it looks so much better with the kit. i have two friends that have the accord coupe: one has the kit, the other doesn't.

the one with the kit looks so much better.

Just remember it's all right cause I'm Saved by the Bell....just had to put that in there.

The only thing stepping down is that if your friends, relatives, and family are brand consious they would say, "Why would you want to trade from an Acura luxury Honda to just a Honda"?

As Greenmonster posted originally, it is a lateral move.

As for missing the HIDs, the HIDs in the CL (as with my 02 Maxima) are not anything worth missing over typical halogens IMHO. Now if they were bixenon projectors......
