The last few days has been crazy between the dealership fuck up and the damages from hurricane Ida. A month ago, someone damaged the rear bumper of my M40i. Looks like something was dropped. I had Park Ave Bmw body shop repair the rear bumper and refinish the stock 20 inch wheels as they had clear coat issues. When I arrived to pick up the M40i, I went over the body and wheel work like a nut due to my OCD and paying out of pocket I expected top notch work.

To no surprise the work came out fantastic! I mean everything looked to OEM standard. As I kept walking around the vehicle, I noticed odd stains on my Vossens.. I thought "maybe its just tire shine run off.." nope.. wasn't coming off at all. It looked like something ate the finish. I told the advisor "hey man, these wheels are brand new and didn't have any damages to them.." he took us to the body shop so we can discuss it with them.

The body shop had photos showing the wheels were in fact flawless once they completed the work. The dealership hires an outside company to do their detail work. So the detail shop sprayed some type of wheel cleaner and didn't take it off in time which fucked up all 4 wheels. My wife was flipping out and was yelling at all of them. I, (shockingly) was calm and told the dealership to resolve the issue or order new wheels. I sent them all the specs on the wheels.

The dealership told me that the detailing owner will be responsible for the wheels. Their game plan was to try to detail them and or have them refinished. I wasn't too thrilled on the refinish since they are brand new and didn't think they will be back to factory finish. They've ignored my last few text messages on an update and taking into consideration we got hit hard with this storm, they have their hands full..

I have no idea where my wheels are or at what stage of the process to resolve the issue. Likely I'll push them to order new wheels. I was calm up til they kept ignoring my messages. I have a great relationship with my advisor so I don't want to ruin it but he knows where I stand with the situation. My wife already spoke to her aunt who is a lawyer in NJ, I don't want it to get to that point over wheels.. I'll drive by the dealership on Tuesday and hope I will get an update. Here are the damages..

Took advantage of the beautiful day and did a photoshoot. The oem wheels were just refinished. The wheel spacers are off since the dealership swapped wheels. At some point I'll swap the spacers back on and clean up those calipers.

I just picked up my Vossens and honestly, they came out better than the original finish. The wheels are a more glossy / metallic version of the anthracite color. Now til next spring to see how they look.

SLR Phoot shoot done on this beautiful Sunday. X3M spoiler installed and Vossens back on. What a nice upgrade to give the rear a more aggressive look!
