Jerry Seinfeld focuses on decade-old Porsches. He spent $1.4 million and two years having a 20-car garage-gallery built in Manhattan for his mechanical masterpieces.

The collection's centerpiece is a $700,000 Porsche 959, one of only 200 ever built. To Jerry's frustration, he isn't allowed to drive it. US government emissions and crash-test standards have never been tested on the car because Porsche refuses to hand over four vehicles for destruction tests. Jerry, therefore, has had to bring in his rare Porsche under an "exhibition only" clause -- the car must never set rubber on an American road.

Included in Jerry's collection is a 1959 straight-16 GT speedster; a Porsche 911S; a 1955 Spyder 550 -- the same model and pearl-grey color actor James Dean was driving when he crashed and died in September 1955 near Cholame, Calif. At a recent count, Jerry has 47 Porsches parked in his garage. Jerry loves Porsches so much he gave his wife, Jessica Sklar, a 1958 Porsche 1600 Speedster as a wedding present in 1999. The car cost him a reported $40,000, chump change for the yada-yada king who topped Forbes magazine's list of top-earning celebs of 1998, when he raked in $267 million.

So I saw one of these in person yesterday in a parking lot and I have to say I was really impressed at the way it looks. Can't wait to see what they go for once off lease in a few years since they get 40mpg it would make a nice daily. Anyone else think they look good or am I crazy?

You're crazy.

srika 10-11-2011 04:19 PM

I think it looks pretty nice, for its purpose.

JS + XES 10-11-2011 04:36 PM

Oh btw, I was in Korea for like 6 days couple weeks ago, I saw bunch of Velosters, and I thought they looked pretty good in person. My perception of it completely changed after I saw one in person.

So will this one I think. The owners want a lot of money for it.

Might have had something to do with the fact that it was an expensive car in Louisiana with no AC.:tomato:

Yeah I never liked it in pictures either. Pictures seem to make it look much larger than it actually is. In reality it is rather small which is a good thing.

If I had extra cash and a collection of cars, I would buy it..but thats not the case unfortunately. This car has a very small niche market and will take long to sell. I thought about what kind of looks people would give if they saw this driving on the road, probably think it is some kind of ricer with that wing.

Yeah, that's what I thought too when I first saw the pics. But it's rather smallish in person.

I would say it's a love it or hate it type of design. It's like my car.

Yea, the car looks good till you see it from the back :ugh:

kinda like the volvo C30 the back just ruins it!

And I've seen it in person. Although I would say is I'm not much of a fan of the interior.

Where the 4th door should be is a wall of hard plastic. And since that side's window is small its easily noticeable and would annoy the crap out of me.

im near NYC so like 1/20 wheels sold are near this area

seriously look at clublexus, some days the entire front page is california

http://www.clublexus.com/forums/whee...lassifieds-41/

azine is the same for wheel sales

im just upset cause it seems like all the californians get sweet local deals. no idea why everyone in california has rims for sale :O

JS + XES 10-12-2011 07:44 PM

It's not great looking for sure, but I thought it was cute enough for me. Maybe that's why I drive a car with a dumbass smiley on the front :D

Not sure if anyone picks this up- but I see a lot of Acura in the Veloster's steering wheel. Not a bad thing, but it was the first thing I noticed when I sat in the concept at NAIAS earlier this year. The car's interior seems pretty nice for what it is.

speedemon90 10-12-2011 07:54 PM

hmm wonder if that car needs the "oh shit" handle bars in the center console lol

although I'm not in the market for wheels...
we do have a pretty big selection of car enthusiasts here.
I would say our main rival would be texas.

To my knowledge thats exactly what they do.
They're not an innovative company at all.
Take the equus for example, from what I heard they look at the big luxo sedans, look at whats popular, whats not. And put everything they can that works in their car. It works, but it can only do so for so long, mainly as long as their prices stay low.

Nice, I've test driven one. It has a good ride. And for a DD that just wants to get between point A and B and doesnt really care about having fun, it will do just fine as long as you can make it to your destination lol.

Its weird not hearing an engine though haha

Because its full of wheel whores who take the easy accessibility of aftermarket parts for granted.

hmm you guys really dont like the Veloster? i saw it and sat it in this past April at the NY Auto show and I loved it inside and out

once the Veloster turbo comes out, i may seriously consider it as a replacement for my TL.

I like it. Its not the car for me, but I do like it.

civicdrivr 10-12-2011 10:41 PM

The Veloster is hideous. It also looks like its got crazy blind spots.

JS + XES 10-13-2011 10:58 AM

I told you guys already twice! It's a love it or hate it type of design.

CCColtsicehockey 10-13-2011 11:39 AM

The door thing is definitely funny as I had no idea since I only had seen the car from one side. Once they turbo it though it definitely should be a fun little car.
