Oh and my other next door neighbor has a black Vette convertible with Z06 wheels :annoyed:

Just had the pleasure of sitting in a 2010 CRZ 6sp manual hybrid thing for the first time.
Very comfortable and the dash is impressive. |
Woah. A lift in a home garage? that guy is awesome. I want
|
thanks for the info on the Grand Sport! didnt know it had the same body as the Z06. I would totally be down with one, just would have to get some new wheels. Don't like the factory ones. I would have that sumbitch camming real nice. And the targa off. :D
I've never driven a C6. |

The grand sport has a wider body than the normal C6. I dunno if it is as wide as the ZO6 though. It also has ZO6 splitter/spoiler and brakes I believe. Anyway, not trying to sell you on a GS, so I will shut up. ZR1 brakes :what: .
edit - haha Crazy said the same thing. Damn all this corvette talk, it makes me want one even more. :( Ugh, if only I could get one right now. |

For the BMW-philes, a rare E36 gen. CSL is on the market now, 1 of 85 in the US (120 in all).

Speaking of the Tesla Model S, I remember our Ford Taurus Station Wagon had these, it was pretty fun flipping people off and my Mom wondering why people were honking at her. :snicker:

I saw what was presumably a replica E36 CSL in Northern VA about three weeks ago. It was pretty nice looking.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/ferrari...the-aventador/ Ferrari CEO: 599 Replacement Will Pound Out “More Than 700 HP,” but “Not Because of the Aventador” October 6, 2011 at 12:36pm by Daniel Pund http://blog.caranddriver.com/wp-cont...08-626x382.jpg We revealed a little earlier today that Ferrari’s 2012 successor for its Enzo supercar will be a carbon-fiber missile powered by a V-12 mounted midships and augmented by a hybrid system. In the same interview, Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa also confirmed that the replacement for the 599GTB—also scheduled to arrive in 2012—will retain its front-engine arrangement and will be constructed not of carbon composites, but largely from aluminum alloys. But, we asked, must the car have at least 700 hp to match the new Lamborghini Aventador? “We are selling cars, not horsepower,” said Felisa. Then in what we must assume was feigned ignorance, Felisa asked exactly how much horsepower the Aventador makes. We told him 700, which is the Lamborghini-provided figure. (We convert that number, which is measured in PS, to 691 SAE net horsepower.) Felisa’s reply: “We’ll have more than 700 horsepower.” He paused long enough to thwack us on the shoulder before continuing, “but it’s not because of the Aventador.” The current 599GTB makes 612 hp and the GTO version made 661, so 700 isn’t too far off. Ferrari earlier indicated in official future-product plans that the 599 replacement will be a more extreme performance machine than the current car and also, of course, more expensive. We expect the car to appear at next March’s Geneva auto show. |
Hey Ferrari -
This little guy right here pumps out over 900hp. http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....gera-630op.jpg Just sayin'. Yours truly, Christian von Koenigsegg PS - Dihedral Synchro-Helix. Whachu know 'bout that? |

Wish new cars still came with T-tops. I like open top motoring but hate the prospect of getting a convertible. I always had this idea.... I really like t-top cars. But a targa top is easier and quicker to install/remove (at least it is on an NSX vs. a Camaro or a MR2). Space constraints aside, I always thought a car with a t-bar roof support but with a single removable targa piece would be ideal. Best of both worlds.... you get the additional bracing provided with a t-top, but the increased convenience of a targa top. Free patent idea for you automakers out there :O I think the 997 Targa had a roof where it retained the outer structure of the roof.... google search confirms it. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_CaoIcsWZxl...targa-4-4s.jpg |
semi-related:
http://www.911uk.com/viewtopic.php?t=32329 even less related: It somewhat bugs me when people do the "black roof" look and their car's roof ditches don't line up with the A-pillar. I love the look when done right, but when the windshield and roof don't line up it's the first and last thing I notice. Hate to pick on this guy, but here it is: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m.../blackroof.jpg http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m...oto/roof-1.jpg Now, this on the other hand... http://www.aerotect.net/images/Black_Roof.jpg http://g35driver.com/forums/attachme...don-g35-06.jpg |
ahh I love threads like this. I always get random ideas, especially about cars.
I miss the black top sports cars of the '90s. Part of the reason why I got the car I did was because it had a black top (as well as t-tops). Anyways here are some other black top cars: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_H2d-1sj4rH...0/IMG_3802.jpg http://www.nsxprime.com/photopost/da...5608large1.jpg Something else I found too while searching for the above. I still want an MR2 Turbo. I also kind of chuckled because "black top" means something entirely different in the MR2 world. http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_i...0005_large.jpg |

wow. sick boat.
http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2012-...photo-4510392/ 2,700-hp, $1.7M Corvette-inspired superboat is glorious lunacy http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....side-5-opt.jpg By Zach Bowman Posted Oct 7th 2011 2:15PM http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog....t-interior.jpg There is no replacement for displacement, whether you're on the road, in the clouds or bursting across wide open water at 180 mph. That's exactly what you could do if you had a cool $1.7 million laying around and felt like making the 2012 ZR48 MTI your very own. The boat features a pair of 1,350-horsepower turbocharged Mercury Marine V8 engines strapped into a carbon fiber hull. That's all run-of-the-mill tech for the superboat crowd, but what sets this craft apart from the fleet is its complete Chevrolet Corvette interior. Why transplant the worst part of one of the best performance buys in the automotive market into your million-dollar boat? Probably because you can. That, and odds are you won't be relaxed enough to look anywhere but down the bow when this machine is at wide open throttle. The ZR48 MTI features seating for six and a spiffy custom trailer designed to haul the craft on its side (the machine is too wide to be transported right-side up). Check it out in our gallery, then head over to Tennessee's Pier 57 for more information. News Source: Pier57, The Daily Mail |
