Still would lose to an RLX with upgraded tires though.
That V-Tec yo.......
Seriously, did you see how much the BMW squatted? That weight transfer. I thought the rears were rubbing in the fender well. And under 3 seconds 0-62 MPH?
savage geese dynoed a pre-production 2021 Supra and it made 38x whp
They’ve been doing this for a while, haven’t they? Thought it started with the N54, even.
Correct. The N54 out of the gate was underrated. After the early batches went through & got all the road test reports they detuned it some. Automobile magazine ran some dynos at the time showing no consistency in the various versions of the N54/N55 engines listed in the adds at 300BHP. Well there was sort of a consistency. All the versions tested over the advertised 300 number. How much over varied by version which is where in inconsistency comes it.
The N54IS was factory rated at 320BHP all the rest of the N54's at 300BHP. There were IIRC 6 versions of the N54/N55 over time all with different dynos but all rated by BMW at the same 300BHP in the 335. I dynoed my 320BHP 335is an N54 numerous times, was beta testing the JB4 software for the IS which had a different ECU than the standard N54. Baseline runs on the same DynoJet all ran between 319 & 321WHP. Normally about a 15% conversion factor would be added to approximate BHP which is at the crankshaft & what they supposedly use as the advertising number.
That would suggest the "real" crankshaft output was between 366 & 369BHP. Plenty of contemporary videos at various strips showing these cars at 13.0 seconds - 110mph off the dealers floor.
The same engine in the Z4 IS was rated by BMW in the 330+ range. They said it had a better intake track because of the hood design.
^i remember i read that the early B58 in the Pre production Supra and early X3M40i have a lot more power than it should due to tuning "error"
BMW issued a software update for all of them during their next service appointment... many early X3M40i noticed reduced power/quieter exhaust after that.

The Z4 M40i guys are saying the same thing. A recent update has reduced output. Not much you can do about it other than get a JB4 for the car. The Z4 M40i has the Over The Air software update "feature" so like the Pods getting people while they sleep the Trolls from the German wald will get you car while you sleep.

I wonder when they will come out with a MPPK for M40i series cars.... that will boost all of them over 400Whp.. with full warranty.
Looks aside... the G80 M3 will be scary fast, in AWD it is probably faster than M5..... X3M Comp is already super fast (0-60 in 3.3 secs and 1/4 is high 11s)..... and you add about 600 lbs lighter
This is one of the M3 i think you should get AWD with RWD only as option...
What is the point of having that much power if you have to fight for traction every time, all the time...
In our testing, the X4 M and X3 M, both equipped with M’s Competition package, rocketed their way to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. That time makes the pair a tenth of a second quicker than the last performance-package-equipped Porsche Macan Turbo we tested, although that wasn't the refreshed 2020 model, which gets more power. The competing BMWs were a tenth of a second shy of the times posted by the quickest Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio and the Mercedes-AMG GLC63 S coupe. They did, however, outdo the Stelvio Quadrifoglio in the quarter-mile, reaching the distance in 11.6 seconds at 119 mph—a tenth of a second quicker and 2 mph faster than the Italian SUV.
Tough call, the newer X3 is a good looking ute. But, as the resident MB Fanboi, it'd have to be an AMG GLC for me.
I like the GLC too but it's smaller than the X3 isn't it? Also slower and has an older looking interior. Now that BMW has gotten smart and added Android Auto, they are a contender for me again. Porsche, please please please add Android Auto to your cars...
I am curious if there will be a LCI for the X3M next year since it has been out for a few years already...
One thing i dont like about it is the outdated tech... it is currently running on ID6 on 10.25 screen and all the newer ones are all on ID7 12inches +
I have been staring at that same screen in 3 different cars already...... so tired of looking at it... the newer ID7 on the X5 loaner i had was so much better.

I'd imagine they're fairly competitive in size. But it's been a loong time since I've been in an X3.
Not sure on the newest GLC, but the ones I've had for loaners had the same infotainment as my C. An improvement over the older COMMAND system in the E/GLE/CLA, but still a bit dated.

I thought the ID7 screen was already in the X3? They have the new gauge style that I hate along with gesture control and stuff.

Yeah, it's MBUX or bust with MB models.
What a world we live in though when a compact SUV can do 0-60 in the low 3's lol.
Indeed. And with a much smaller & more efficient engine that what it would take even 10 years ago.
I haven't had a chance to try MBUX, but the shots I've seen of it look impressive.
IIRC, my grandmother's S550 had the same general system as I have, just with a full digital cluster & larger infotainment screen.

It is still ID6... Gesture control was available on ID6 already.... just not on every model.
ID7 usually comes with the updated interface along with the Live cockpit crap, which the current X3M dont have.
From what i have seen, the X3M's digital gauges is not a new style it is similar to what i have right now in my car,, full digital but not customizable. ID7 is the ugly confused Live Cockpit
The Navi screen resolution and software and its interface is still ID6 from what i can see..
I would assume the ID7 will be there at LCI.
But ID6 is still better than almost anything else on the market...
Yeah, I have the ID7. Liked the fake round gauges in the 440 but I use the HUD which had more data now including a tach tape so its not so bad.
My typical default screen. Tried not to have an over the top amount of data displayed. HUD has Speed, Speed Limit, Nav, Oil Temp, Fuel & Tach displayed. Music, phone warnings will pop-up as needed or requested.
The rest of the light show on the middle screen works very well. Lots of info & the maps can be displayed over the full width or partitioned into two or three sub screens. Over the air software upgrades are functional & have already had one. Cobra has a reverse Speedometer so the indicators in the IE7 are not that offensive to me.
Set does not have the same level of customization as the old round gauge package but there are still various choices among the different. ECO, Comfort & Sport, Sport + base graphic sets.

Found this pretty close by for a pretty good price. TLS 6MT.
Maybe buy it and play with for a year until I get the car I want!? Can probably sell for the same amount. Decision, decision.
Man that looks like a pretty cool and sporty sedan, dude.
There could be even a forum you could join up and get some tips and hints on owning and driving that kind of car. Not sure though, may be hard to find these days....
I've been looking but don't really need to since I hardly drive now. Maybe if crazy deals were to be had (looking for used), but doubt it's really worth it.
