Put the A7 there and it will look like that as well. It's the same general shape everyone is copying.

This is beyond just copying. This is a gross and shameless lack of concern in blatantly copying.

The A7, has a similar body shape, but I don't see ALL THE SAME cues everywhere - they continue to maintain a design language that's molded around the basic shape. This one, is going further and also copying design language and that's where it really bugs me.

I really disliked the Audi _7 when they came out, but the design has grown on me a lot.
Saw one of the new ones recently, and not sold on it at first glance, IMO the late years 4G8 look better.

RE: Above Stinger/8GC. $50k for the Stinger or >$100k for the 8GC....

While I realize the Stinger hit the market well before the 8GC, to be fair, BMW has been using most of these elements on its cars for quite a while longer than Kia. That being said, I completely understand where you are coming from on this. It certainly makes BMW look like a follower rather than an industry and design leader.

the 8GC flows better, tho.
the shoulder line in the rear, the vent in the front doors, the 8GC looks better from a design point.

Yup.. 6GC and 4GC were out long before Stinger... if we want to blame someone.. i think the actual trend all started with Mercedes CLS

look at the Accord, Malibu too...

i hate it when people say it like that.. annoying AF

But i love the fastback look if the trunk is a hatch... to me you get the best of both world, the practicability of wagon + the sleek look of coupe....

Now if the trunk opens like a regular Sedan, then all it does is reduce the rear head room.

I remember when there were rumors about a liftback Accord - I was ecstatic. Then we get a dumpy ass with a normal trunk

I love the Arteon, but the price is ridiculous for a glorified Passat. You're better off pulling a @Yumcha and getting a Hyundai.

yup.. once you are used to the huge opening of the liftback, it is hard to go back to a regular trunk....

I never even thought about that when i went from 4GC to 340.... until the very first time i had to use the 340's trunk... i had the WTF is this look

The much less attractive older sister of the G70/G80. Not a looker for sure.

I was next to one of these earlier this week. Definitely looks better than a Slingshot.

Utah-based company, 1.4T (180-200hp) I4 GM engine (Cruze?), 6AT.
$30-40k Venice/Carmel respectively.

Their website claims 0-60 in 4.5s & a curb weight under 1,500lbs.

But - that is how it's always been - the lesser brands copy the higher ones. Corvette copies Ferrari. The Korean companies copy Rolls, Mercedes, BMW, etc. etc. Lexus LS was originally modeled to compete with the Mercedes S Class. And on and on.

When Kia has the Stinger out, it's BMW's job to be cognizant of this and NOT do what they did with the 8GC. This is where they need to branch away and do their own thing. If they had a guy like Bangle still on board I guarantee he would not have gone this route.

8GC is a replacement for 6GC... so i dont really see anything wrong with it. the shape, targeted audience and pricing are pretty much the same as the previous 6GC.

I think you are saying that 8GC is trying to copy Stinger in some ways. No it is not, it is a direct replacement for 6GC, which existed years before Stinger. While the Stinger does look nice in person, most of the people will not mistaken the 8GC with Stinger.

The next 4GC will be very similar to Stinger too... but we can't say it is copying Stinger since 4GC has had that design since 2013/2014.

The G90 looks like Hyundai tried to do a science experiment with a Genesis and the frame off of a totaled Rolls they bought off CL and created that unholy cursed abomination.

all sedans have 4 doors, 4 tires, 4 wheels, headlights, taillights, trunk, roofline, side mirrors, arches and lines.

Yes I am talking specifics.

The bar is waaayy too low for "this car looks like that car" on this board.

The only lookalikes I want to hear are
"The Infiniti Q50 looks exactly like the Mazda6"

and

@Yumcha drives an Infiniti that looks like a fish

I see the similarities in the side profile, specifically the windows, the c pillar shape, and the way it flows into the trunk.

Does it matter though? Nope. People will line up to buy the 8GC. The Kia will continue to have discounts at shitty dealerships that can't move them.

That is the same shape for the fast back look.

4GC, A5 sportback CLS, Even Accord, Malibu, all have pretty much the same shape. If it does not have that shape, then it is a 4 door coupay <--- @ coupay

If anything i think Stinger is more similar to A7's shape than 8GC, since 8GC's trunkline looks more like a traditional trunk (because it is).

Waiting for the the 2026 BMWs to come out with droste effect kidneys. Grilles so big, they can fit the 2019 X7's kidneys inside the 2025 X7's kidneys
