^ yah that is why i said even if the price was $20k, i would consider it a steal... $4500 just did not make sense to me.

But i would not consider Corvette as part of the exotics tho... unless we are talking about the upcoming mid engine one.

Eh, yeah 20k maybe.....they probably know lot of Ferraris are just garage queens and basically you have to just replace items that time out instead of wearing out from use....so routine service may be in that ballpark...obviously outliers can go both ways. I'm guessing Ferrari employs smart math wizards/actuaries to come up with a warranty premium.

But yeah for sure Corvette not exotic...was just showing how little the avg person knows/cares about cars. Basically anything that looks low and fast is 1 of those 3 lot of the time. And if it looks exotic... then it must be super fast and super expensive.

It's available via serious inquiries, but reportedly $155K. 32,000 miles, all original, minus exhaust.

It must easily have 200,000 miles on it. Double that offer and you can easily find one just a shade under 100,000 miles.

I quick Googled some BMW forums about that kind of mileage. I guess surprisingly, for every person questioning the maintenance, there was an owner telling people to run if they can’t afford even the brakes. Quite a few guys getting 160,000+ miles out of their E60s with proper service.

Anything will run forever given proper service. The question is how much does proper service cost... The E60 is a money pit deeper than many exotics, cool car, do not want.

E60 M5 is still on my list.. that V10 is undeniable.
It sucks that there are critical components that can fail without warning.
One day I hope to properly own one.. W220 S600 as well.. and a W210 E55
My garage will be a full shop by then with plenty of fuck off money.

W220 S600 and W210 E55 (wagon FTW) are also on my bucket list. One of these days...

Look wise, E39 M5 is my favorite but driving dynamic and engineering, hands down E60 M5..... Till this day i still think it has the closest exhaust noise to F1 cars. The other 2 are CGT and LFA.

Eff that. How much is a rod bearing job for the V10?

If you can do that yourself properly I give you props. I don't even wanna know what BMW would charge for it.

E39 M5 was my favorite sedan of all time until the CTS-V. Still think the E39 has a timeless look about it.

I would do an S85 swap into the E39 body with 6mt since SMG is shit. That would be the perfect M5.

Do you have RS6 in Canada? cuz most of us here have never seen 1 in person here , so we cant say that is our favorite if we never seen it.

For an S, I definitely prefer the W221 & W126 to the W140

At my old employment, a guy had one. It was circa 2005 or 2006...it was impressive. He bought it preowned. Don't believe they are sold here in Canadark.

FWIW, outside of the slapsticking in here, I never did have a loyalty to one brand outside of Aston Martin and Pagani. But, those 2 brands was not more of loyalty but of lust-preme allegiance.

wtf...reading M5board on the E60 rod bearings....lots of dudes are DIYing that job, insane.

Couldn't really find a good post but apparently if you go to an independent shop you can get it done at around 3k for the road bearings: https://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e6...ng-quotes.html

Another dude said a dealer rod bearing service was less than 5k, though a diff shop quoted up to 9500 for VANOS + rod bearings.

Looks like ttribe actually owned a E60 M5!!! I probably missed that thread, but honestly it's not looking too too bad.....looks like have to go for 6MT at least and avoid SMG altogether...

edit: ttribe - just saw your post...looks like you got the M5 in 2011? That thread is 46 pages long...lol, a quick and dirty TLDR of your E60 M5 ownership experience? I can realistically swing a M5 potentially in the near future, but gotta really know what I'm getting myself into of course....lol, appreaciate any wisdom

We had the RS6 sedan here in the states for a few years in the mid aughts. The newer and wagon versions never came over.

In a few years, you should just get the F10 M5. Faster, more reliable (relatively), but without the glorious V10 sounds.

That piped W220 is amazing. I'd be averaging 4gpm in that, since it'd be redlined everywhere.
