Got some answers and I am PISSED at Lindsay VW.
So on Saturday when the deal was made it was agreed upon by both dealers to make the swap. However, when the GM came in on Monday he fucking nixed it because the cars "are so popular".
That put the bind on my dealer to find another one.
I asked that my dealer put the screws into Lindsay to say that it was agreed by some under management to let the car go and I have a deposit on this VIN.

My dealer has not been able to find another Silver TDI SE manual trans with the packages I want. So they offered me the same car, but with DSG for the same price that I negotiated for the manual.
I'm going to drive a DSG again today at lunch and will make my decision.
I have two avenues should I still want the manual.
#1. Order from factory and wait 8-10 weeks
#2. Get the same car I originally wanted, but different color (actually color choice #2) and it will be available around the end of October. This would come from a dealer in Jersey.
If I like the DSG, I will probably go that route and have the car this weekend.
Well...more confusion has come up.

If you really want the manual, order it. Stinks to wait that long but you would get what you want.

When I originally test drove the Golf, I did not realize that I had the transmission in Sport mode the whole time which would account for the "suddenness" of the car. I saw the "S" in the info display, but didn't think anything of it.
It was a noob move on my part and the salesperson didn't know anything about the car so I was not going to ask her.
They're getting ready to start another 8 miles of interstate construction right along by commute so the auto will be beneficial for that.
Maybe I'm trying to convince myself since I can get the car in 2 days rather than 2 months.

Well upon further test drives, I have decided to order a manual trans.
Car will be the same as my posts a couple pages back, Tungsten Silver TDI SE manual with Lighting Package. The details will be worked out over the next day or so. Fingers crossed that maybe one is on the assembly line in Mexico right now and it will be a few weeks instead of 8-10.
Will be driving the minivan in the mean time
The DSG had this weird lag between 1st and 2nd and that sealed its fate.

based on my personal experience and regrets.
You can compromise on a lot of things in a car but if you are a manual guy and thought OH maybe DSG/Auto is not so bad, i think i can live with it.
WRONG! you will hate it after a month. and live unhappily ever after.

I really thought I would like the DSG, just something seemed "off" about it. And I agree that I would have had regrets down the road if it still bothered me in a few weeks/months.
damn remember these....
1989 Porsche 911 Speedster For Sale - 719901 - duPont REGISTRY
oh and..... manual FTW

This. I have friends who lament the same things...if manual is a huge deal, then, it will be...no feature/amenity will change your mind.

Can an evap line with a "very small leak" still cause a lean condition?
The pile of shi- uh, I mean Passat threw a CEL last week. Didn't have access to VAGCOM but yesterday an OBDII reader spit out
PO456 (small evap leak)
PO171 (bank 1 too lean)
I cleared them last night and this afternoon I pulled:
PO011: Intake camshaft timing over-advanced
PO171
No evap code though.

Even with tendinitis in my right wrist, I don't ever regret buying a manual car.
I still remember my new car thread... can't believe some people fell for it the biggest giveaway was that I didn't get a manual. Then again most people don't know me that well.
Occasionally I get ideas of buying a Golf TDI. Perfect daily driver IMO. Torque, great gas mileage, manual trans, easy to park, good compromise between ride and handling... plus dat resale value.

Spoke to the manager at dealership today.
He is in the process of getting information to his "rep" to determine if there is a car which matches my specs that is ready to be loaded on a ship. If this is the case they can expedite it and it would be as little as 3 weeks. If there is not one available, I'll get in the queue at the factory and it will take up to 8-10 weeks.
Hoping for the former.

It's not like there's a different powertrain under the body.. their list of mods are mild compared to many builds out there. The gains are relative.. it was already more than capable.

S63 or S65 for him. Amazing car, extremely comfortable, and IMO a large step above the BMW 7 or Audi A8/S8
