General Car Talk Discussion Thread
I think it's about on par with what else GM was making at that time... so yeah Costco, I agree.
Was there ever an aftermarket fix for the skip-shift feature in the manual GXPs?

I was a fan of the Vauxhall Insignia VXR. Turbocharged V6, Haldex AWD. When GM brought it to the states, they gave it FWD and a turbocharged L4
and it's still pricy. Wonder why it doesn't sell...

Beyond that though, yeah. Domestic sedans mostly suck, other than the aforementioned Charger/G8/CTS-V.

I'm not a huge fan of the metal on the CLA45 seats either but it is very, very obvious that the Mercedes seats are much nicer and higher quality seats than the SS.
Given that the Mercedes and SS start around the same price, I can only conclude that GM thinks putting that V8 in the SS justifies about a $10k price bump.

I would still get an SS, because V8. And one of the greatest mod-able V8's ever to grace the automotive world. How easy would it be to throw a supercharger on it and make 500 whp with no problems? Try doing that in the Benz, when the turbo already makes 21 psi (IIRC).
In my area the CLA45 is $5k more than the SS. Even then the SS is ~$43k, which itself is $5k more than a G8 GXP was... and even that was $8k more than the G8 GT!!
The SS isn't just a reskinned GXP with a new interior, but I'm not sure it's worth the huge jump. If they had the SS starting at $36k I'd be all over it like flies on shit. But in the mid $40s it's tough.
Can I choose neither?
I loved that the G8 GT started under $30k, but it made the GXP seem like a waste by comparison.

Performance per dollar isn't the end-all but it explains my bias for domestics. Another thing is having a clutch pedal ups the appeal a lot.
My thing with German cars is that they're like girls with boob jobs and designer handbags. Nice to look at, anyway.

I'd rather a G8 over the SS. What part of this design says "2014, $40,000"? Nothing (aside from the cheestastic LEDs everyone tacks on these days). I'm a design over performance person, and this design is simply poor.
It's just as bland in person as in photos, too. Such a shame they messed the SS up by a reused design and over pricing it. They've been killing it lately but this ones going to be a dud I suspect.
Right. The C7 is sublime, new Impala looks nice, etc. Chevy has it in them to make a good design, but the SS evokes no emotion.
On last Saturday night, I spotted this IS-F with an aftermarket exhaust that sounded like thundergod. It sounded SO GOOD. Even my wife said that sounds freaking good.
Didn't know those things can sound very godlike.

I know it's digitaltrends review... but really... Hate Subaru for messing up this generation...

What's wrong with digitaltrends? First time reading one of their reviews.
Sounds good to me
I just don't like the exterior styling. The interior is actually nice for once, relatively speaking ($25k segment). I'd like to think the manual is a more common pick than the CVT compared to other cars.
For the money, the 2015 Subaru WRX is perhaps the best handling, most fun car on the market of any segment.

seems like an odd ball.
