Galves car value needed

...so I go to Honda with the intent of trading my 00 Quest for an 05 Ody EX-L and I had my Edmunds price sheet (for the Ody) and KBB value for the Quest.

After working out some acceptable numbers for the purchase, the dealer did an appraisal and told me that they'd pay me $3400 for my van when KBB has it listed for $7000. They indicated that they dont use KBB, rather they use Galves.

Does anyone have access to Galves?? If so, can someone run a Galves appraisal for a 2000 Nissan Quest SE (120k, average condition, 16" wheels, moonroof, quad seating, pwr driver seat, video system). I really want to see if that $3400 figure is accurate. Thank you.

Try a different dealer. The acura dealer around here (a couple of them, quoted me straight KBB for my trade. Never heard of Galves, but that doesn't mean they're no good.

All dealers in NJ, NY, and maybe CT also, only use the Galves book. They don't use KBB or any other trade-in values.
Galves is almost always lower than KBB. The Galves book is only available to dealers.
I hate the Galves book.

Pretty much all dealers never use KBB or Edmunds, and when you bring in the sheet they laugh at you and tell you its only a reference.

Rule of thumb. Whatever KBB tells you a trade is worth...subtract about 2g. That is about what a dealer will give you on your trade.

There's another volume Honda dealer near me that uses KBB and Nada (at least according to their website) so, I'm taking your advice.

Galves

I'm sure a slighty used $450k SLR is probably only worth $25k with Galves.

My dealer was going to give me 1.5K for my 97 accord with 67K miles on it and for a trade in for an RSX with their no hassle "invoice price" it was only gonna cost me 20K to trade in my accord for a regular RSX!! WHAT A DEAL!!! I got a good laugh out of it. Sell it privatly or atleast take it to Carmax.

Fockers... A 97 with that kind of mileage has to be worth somewhere around $8K...

My cousin just bought a 97 w/ 80K miles on it for around $7K...

Then he got in and I had left my music on but turned it down so my subs were thumpin. When he came out from pulling up to be inspected and what not the first thing he said was "intresting, I like that" but yea then he told me 1.5K i was like WTF? i was expecting like atleast 3 or 4. here is a pic of my

sorry to thread jack op but seriously dealers are crap on tradeins because they don't really want them, b/c they can just sell new cars easier and with less work. Carmax or sell it on your own

they will usually give u a little bit more than a dealer, so that is the way to go if u REALLY gotta get the car off your hands. You save so much money doing it yourself though.

Definitely sell it yourself. I took my '96 Explorer Eddie Bauer with 100k miles to a dealer and they laughed at my face and said $1G. The truck was in mint condition and everything detailed by me and the mechanicals checked out by my mechanic and the stupid dealer offered me $1,000. Totally messed up so I put my truck on Autotrader. A couple of months later, I sold it for $6,700. True, you pay a couple of more months of insurance but I made $5,700 from this sale.
