Darrin, I'm surprised at you. Don't you know that's what's it's all about. Screw the fact that the car is technically quicker. It's what I've been trying to get folks to understand. Don't tell me your car is quicker. They think all you got to do is mash the gas and let it drive itself. Anyone that thinks that don't know sqwat about drag racing. And that's why I've said I like my chances against any of these cars.

After my audi burned, i decided to get an ac. i'm happy with this car.

 

Hate to break to you guys, but raced my buddies tls with comptech headers, intake and UR pulleys. And I was about 1/2 to 1 car length ahead till we hit 100 and around 115 i was like 2+ car lengths ahead. Same results 3 times. (We launched from a roll around 30mph).. I've driven his tl and it's a dog after about 100mph or so.. why so?? anyways.. sorry for the 1st bs post... Much respect for the Cl/TL.. by the way my g35c is an auto and all stock..

 

is your friend on this board, i remember some one posting beating a g coupe w/ those mods

I like the Acura CL I think its a nice car. I was thinking about getting one, but after driving the G, in my opinion, it handled better, and had better acceleration. I didn't buy the G to go racing every car I pulled up to insight. I bought it because: I wanted something faster then my accord(yeah i know, pretty much everything is faster then my 2001 v6 accord), I do alot of freeway driving, and my accord didnt have enough umph when it came to passing people. I also wanted something more fun to drive, and something that everyone and there mama didnt have. Every time I am on the freeway I see, Accords, Camry's, TL's, BMW 3 series. I have only seen a handful of G35 coupes (i'am sure i'll be seen alot more). No matter what car you buy, there is always going to be someone bashing it. As far as speed is concerned, there are too many factors that contribute to it. Was there a full tank of gas in the car or a quarter tank of gas, was it hot? What elevation did they run the car? Does the driver know how to drive? What I am getting at is in the real world who care's if one car is faster then the other by 1/10 of a second. My point is, is your car fun to drive. Do you love getting in your car to go to work. Do you enjoy washing your car. If you said yes to all the above, then don't listen to all the hoopla that everyone else says. I love my car to death. Well I think I have rambled enough.

your friend cant drive! either that or his car is not in proper working order. and if you want to play the statistics game, i raced the Gcoupe 7 times and won. the only two times he beat me was only up to 60, then i pass him again (he launched the shit out of it those 2 times, not good for car but its a lease!)
i even raced a sedan with intake to make sure on my cars ability.
from a roll, i know for a fact i can walk a gcoupe. if your friend cant launch though, then you could beat him

we ran pretty much a quarter mile, sometimes over 100. I raced both, you obviously are impaired when it comes to reading comprehension. i said i beat the g coupe, and then took a sedan to confirm. i am aware of the 20 hp difference, and have driven both G's several times.
the g coupe had an intake, so it was modded.
stat "game":
my trials: 9 total
yours: 3 total
the chance of my races being flukes are much less than yours.

last thing, you are a bit too cocky about this subject in general. remember, there is always someone faster than you!

We all know our 4th gear sucks, as darrinb stated here and many times before over the last 3+ years I've been on this forum. There's no need to bash it in our face anymore. Yes, your G35 pulls better after 110 b/c of our sucky 4th gear, so what's the point racing to 130? 1/4 mile ends around 100. Are you afraid you're going to have to play catch up? lol.

 

Nope just making a point.. a cl with headers and intake is not going to smoke a g35c AT.. it's close and will come down to the driver and launch...

True, so your TLS friend cannot drive if he has i/h & pulley and lost to you from a 30mph roll. It should be much closer. It's proven that 14.3 is possible w/ i/h & tires.
